Affordable and accessible STEM education for all children in Kenya
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
We intent to make STEM education affordable and accessible through the delivery programs and resources in 3 pathways: Partnering with learning and learning support institutions such as schools, tutoring services and homeschool services Directly supporting parents to accesss our STEM education programs and resources for tgeir children Conducting individual CSR initiatives and partnering with like minded organisations on initiatives so as to provide subsidised and free STEM education programs and resources to children of disenfranchised groups like girls, impoverished children, street children and children in remote areas. The same initiative will support the patenting and go to market preparation of any innovation made by students

Of the 3 partners 1- has a bachelors in finance and a CPA. They have also interned in a company that teaches entrepreneurship to high scoolers 1- has 3 years experience as a STEM educator and is studying a bachelors in mechanical engineering 1- has interned for 2 years in a fabrication company and is studying electrical engineering

Quality education is baked into the basic operations and csr operations of the project. The project specifically targets quality STEM education but through CSR initiatives and partnerships with like minded organisations it supports the addressing other challenges to education in general

Through its CSR initiatives the project seeks gender parity in STEM education and education in general by including programs that support uptake and enrollment of girls. It also seeks to ensure gender parity in employment, not just by meeting the national standard of 30% of staff employed as women but by seeking to exceed it and ensuring women are involved in all levels from leadership roles to casual roles.

The initiative targets to provide employment opportunities to Kenyan youth, who make up 67% of unemployed Kenyans It also holds a commitment to ensure that when conducting programs and projects in a region then at least 40% staff will constitute locals from the region of operation. We also source from local vendors and manufacturers thus supporting national GDP

Education is one of the most effective ways of promoting peace in a region as it bring together groups of various backgrounds together so that they may learn, coordinate and collaborate with each other. As has been showcased by efforts of organisations such as UNESCO. Through our initiatives, groups from various backgrounds will have an opportunity to grow together.

Both our base and CSR inititatives find the need to develop strong partnerships with lije minded organisations to ensure positive impact as imperative. We have therefore structured several existing partnerships and are working on future ones.

05.08 Justification
Due to challenges of affordability and reach in distribution, current access to decent STEM education is limited to the upper middle class within urbarn areas. Through structured partnerships and innovation, the project is able to account for gender, low income, remoteness and other inhibitors to access and affordability Additionally, the project focuses on learner centred and project-based learning to deliver the service. This allows delivery to cater for the variations of learners encouraging within them creativity and innovation. Its heavy use of curated developer kit as teaching resources as opposed to fully assembled kits allow students to create a myriad of projects. Its teaching of human centred design, project design and engineering design give students skills to structure the projects they are developing in ways that bring forth solutions to societal problems

STEM Cafe Prini group Afribot Robotics We stand out as we focus on ensuring affordability and accessibility while maintaining quality which makes us choice service for many clients.
10.06 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?
Yes, I volunteer at the Hult Prize competition both in the nairobi Regional Summit and as a member of the On campus level competition where we support founders in universities and especially female entreprenuees. My On campus level competition has seen all female founding team advance to the summit level and we are providing them with training to succeed at the summits.
