Describe your project or startup in a few words

I intend to put up a 8x45m greenhouse and start farming of ready market crops such as tomatoes, capsicum, green pepper and cabbages.

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

I thought of this project because it has been on my mind for a period of time but didn't have capital to start up. I have a space that is enough to install a 8x45m greenhouse and enough readily available water for irrigation. I'm confident that through this project, I'll be able to create employment opportunities to my fellow youths in the neighborhood, all the way from putting up the structure to the entire running of the whole project, in that way, we would have dealt with the problem of idleness, theft and poverty amongst the youth in the society. This project will be able to contribute to food production and promote business to the community,

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

I intend to solve the problem of unemployment among the youth by providing a few job opportunities. Through this project, I'll be able to provide readily available goods for the sorrounding market and the outside larger Kenyan community and maybe the world.

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).

The main advantage of doing greenhouse farming in my opinion is; You get to farm a variety of crops despite the season and prevailing weather conditions. Additionally you get to do continuous rotational farming not relying on usual farming seasons.

01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

My main beneficiaries will be the local market for i would have provided available trading commodities that are readily available. My other beneficiaries will be the jobless youths like myself who will have a place to earn a coin and sustain themselves. And of course the government through revenue.

05.08 Justification

There has been greenhouse farming before but has not been practiced by many especially in my locality where maybe lack of enough funds to put the structures has been the problem. So putting up this in such like a community can be a very big score to as far as farming is concerned.

05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?

Main competitors would be the local farmers who do traditional farming and for sure the greenhouse technology will box them out.

I intend to work with both women and men on my project to observe and promote gender equality.
