Describe your project or startup in a few words
The system can effectively bridge the gap between doctors, pharmacists, and patients, promoting the responsible and safe use of antimicrobials while also fostering communication and education within the healthcare ecosystem.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
The System should: • Allow accounts creation and add members, including details about their livestock if applicable. • Assign each family member and their livestock a yearly score that decreases with antimicrobial use. This encourages responsible usage. • Enable patients to upload prescriptions for antimicrobials along with details of the pharmacy where they obtained the medication. • Maintain a database for doctors and pharmacists to store customer account information related to antimicrobial use. • Include a history of antimicrobial use for members. • Allow pharmacists to indicate the name and duration of use for each antimicrobial administered. • Provide a platform for posting campaigns and patient education materials related to AMR. •Include a section where patients and pharmacists can communicate for consultation or follow-up regarding antimicrobial use. •Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive patient data and ensure compliance with privacy regulation.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)- This occurs when germs such as bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites develop the ability to resist the drugs designed to kill them or inhibit their growth. This drugs may include antibiotics, antifungals , antivirals or antiparasitic. These medicines become ineffective and infections persist in the body, increasing the risk of spread to others . Cause ; Microorganisms naturally evolve and change over time. This can include developing resistance to the drugs meant to eliminate them. The misuse and overuse of antimicrobials in humans, animals, and plants accelerate this process. AMR reduces the effectiveness of antibiotics and other antimicrobial drugs, leading to increased morbidity and mortality from infections that were once easily treatable.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
1.Improved Antimicrobial Stewardship: The system should promote responsible antimicrobial use among patients, healthcare providers, and pharmacists, leading to reduced inappropriate prescribing and usage, thereby preserving the effectiveness of antimicrobials. 2.Reduced AMR Rates: By encouraging adherence to guidelines, tracking antimicrobial use, and providing feedback, the system aims to contribute to lower rates of antimicrobial resistance, ultimately leading to better treatment outcomes and reduced healthcare costs. 3.Enhanced Patient Education and Engagement: Through posters and campaigns, the system seeks to increase awareness among patients about the risks of AMR and empower them to make informed decisions about antimicrobial use. 4. Efficient Communication and Collaboration: By enabling seamless communication and collaboration between doctors, pharmacists, and patients, the system facilitates timely consultations, follow-ups, and interventions related to antimicrobial use.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
Antimicrobial resistance is a one health concept and it affect most lifeforms globally(Humans, animals and plants). Why should we care? - AMR reduces the effectiveness of antibiotics and other antimicrobial drugs, leading to increased morbidity and mortality from infections that were once easily treatable. - AMR incurs substantial economic costs due to longer hospital stays, increased healthcare expenses, and lost productivity. -AMR knows no borders and can spread globally through travel, trade, and migration. 4.Why do you think no one has solved this yet? -Data collection on antimicrobial use is quite challenging, especially in low-resource settings or certain sectors like agriculture. Inaccurate or insufficient data has lead to gaps in understanding the extent of antimicrobial use and its impact on resistance. -Lack of Public Awareness: There is a lack of widespread public awareness about the seriousness of AMR and the role individuals can play in preventing it.

02.03.02 Good health and well-being - Justification
My system contributes significantly to this goal by promoting responsible antimicrobial use, leading to a healthier and safer future to one health through : Yearly Score System & Prescription Upload: By tracking and discouraging unnecessary antimicrobial use, my system helps combat the rise of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Database Management for Doctors and Pharmacists: This feature facilitates informed prescribing decisions for doctors and pharmacists. With access to a comprehensive history of a patient's antimicrobial use (including livestock), healthcare professionals can tailor treatments and minimize over-prescription. Recording the name and duration of antimicrobial use provides valuable data for tracking trends and identifying potential misuse. This allows for focused interventions to promote responsible practices.

The system's communication platform can be used to deliver targeted campaigns focused on the impact of water quality and sanitation on antimicrobial resistance. These campaigns can: -Educate users on how poor sanitation contribute to the spread of antimicrobial resistance . -Show how clean water and proper sanitation reduce the need for antibiotics in humans and livestock, leading to less AMR. -Educating users on waste management strategies that prevent the spread of resistant bacteria through water sources. -Explain how AMR can complicate waterborne illnesses, highlighting the importance of both clean water and good hygiene.

Traditionally, efforts to curb AMR have relied on top-down regulations and awareness campaigns. While these efforts hold value, they often lack the granularity and user engagement needed for sustained behavioral change. Additionally, data collection on AMR is often fragmented, hindering comprehensive analysis and targeted interventions. This project tackles these challenges by proposing a user-friendly system that empowers both families and healthcare professionals with its key features which promotes the health industry through : Promoting Collaboration: The system fosters collaboration between families, doctors, and pharmacists, creating a more holistic healthcare ecosystem focused on responsible drug use. Data-Driven Decision Making: The project leverages data analytics to provide insights that inform evidence-based interventions and targeted educational materials.
