The Dunk-A-Dirt campaign aims to inspire the communities, encourage tidiness, and have fun while doing so but most importantly earn money.This initiative empowers eco-conscious individuals to address environmental issues and discover true satisfaction.

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

The Dunk-A-Dirt movement aims to unite with the global community to address pressing climate and environmental challenges. The motivation behind this movement is the recognition of the devastating consequences of unchecked dirt, which poses a significant threat to our health. In the face of uncertain futures due to climate change, everyone is called upon to take action, regardless of status, orientation, or religion. By use of the intended Dunk-A-Dirt app which will incorporate features that allows one to sell recyclable waste, engage in social networking, and events promoting safe waste management practices. Basketball, a popular sport, goes beyond its athletic reputation. The act of dunking, in particular, captivates the crowd and garners applause for its impressive execution and performance. By applying the same concept of satisfaction and excitement to the fight for a clean environment, which is ultimately a fulfilling experience to be part of.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

Efficient waste management through adopting innovative and purpose guided campaign mechanisms especially in the rapidly growing and overpopulated communities and cities where the burden of waste management has only been left under the care of local governments.

1.Reduce environment pollution associated with waste disposal 2.Reduce communicable diseases brought about by effects of waste. 3.Empowering the communities to make an earning from disposing waste. 4.Educate the community on the benefits of collective responsibility in managing waste

This initiative will serve everyone regardless of gender, age or race. Also other part of the ecosystem such as marine life and plants will not be left behind to ensure just to ensure quality wellbeing and productions.

This movement aim to provide employment to the vulnerable members of the society with minimal education qualification and experience as the main objective revolves under inspiring a nation. An inspired community motivates self dependence hence translating to amplified productivity which leads to earning of income. Ranging from increased number of garbage collectors, program awareness ambassadors, proceeds from the programme tricking down to the less fortunate.

Dirty environment directly and indirectly affects normal livelihoods. From pollution of the waters and soil which provide means for survival for living things; wastes affects food production interms if quality and quantity. With purpose driven disposal of waste can have impact on WHY, where, when and how to properly discard non-useful materials will reduce the toxin effects from food producing environments as waste will be checked, graded and categorized to fit a particular disposal mechanisms. Non-decomposing and decomposing waste will be sorted accordingly to ensure proper disposal. This will ensure quality and quantity food production not only safe for human and animal consumption but plenty and available at affordable rates due to reduced effort and cost of rehabilitation of our food production areas.

Cleanliness is next to godliness metaphor is used to affirm the significance of clean surroundings equating to finding a higher purpose in life which is fulfilment. Ensuring proper disposal will impact positive general healthcare as this programme will reduce contamination and fresh air space as mixture of certain toxins or wastes may mutate to create a ultimately harmful and hard to deal with pandemic I.e Cholera, Malaria, Cancer and Kidney diseases having overall wellbeing for the victims and society at large incase it becomes unmanageable and resistant. To eradicate or reduce consumption or ingestion of toxins, the project will ensure proper management procedures of waste for a more vibrant society.

While addressing societal challenges, the main targets are the young and vulnerable individuals who will be empowered with learning about the basics of handling, sorting and disposing off wastes. This will be achieved through awareness campaigns and interactive sessions with those most vulnerable of the effects of waste nuisance and the stake holders tasked with ensuring clean environment. From this campaign, the aim will be to impact quality knowledge which will address stigmatisation, victimisation and discrimination translating to more aware and coexisting community.

Coming from an African setting where cleaning duties are majorly preserved for women, has been a major hindrance to safe and clean surroundings as one gender believes these duties are left for the other gender(women). Lack of clear vision and mission in addressing stage environment challenges, makes it unfair and with ignorance taking over means the work is far from done. This movement aims to address equality responsibilities in maintaining a healthy environment by advocating for inclusivity for a collective and safer environment for all. As there is no male or female disease or harmful toxins will be our major campaign trailer of affirming and instilling collective responsibility.

From the recent devastating effects of flooding experienced in the county in the past weeks can attest to a need for a clean and organised environment. Some flooding effects could have been contained if proper measures were in place to ensure safe disposal. Blockages associated with dust could have prevented extreme invasion of floods in homes, farms and institutions. Overwhelmed by the force of the floods, contamination from sewers and clean water pipes ended in homes and farms hence affecting health and wellbeing to killing crops due to toxins. This movement will not only focus on proper disposal but follow ups in ensuring unlocking of hot spot areas before, during and after rainfall seasons just to ensure no or limited compromise of contamination hence assuring safe and clean water for household use .

Some wastes can be recycled to useful purposes as clean energy. With proper disposal mechanisms will ensure sorting to separate materials which can be used for recycling. Innovation will be our major guide towards achieving environmental Sustainability with coordination with like minded incubation centres to train, support and absorb meaningful innovations majoring in converting waste into affordable and clean energy while at the same time empowering the economy.

The main drive is making waste disposal fun and intriguing, while not forgetting to empower the people and ensure they earn a living from the movement. To ensure continuous movements, partnering with the governments, institutions, companies and well wishers will motivate the programme team and volunteers, assuring of earning a way of living into the future. While governments are sole responsible for waste management and disposal; the rest of the sectors are always beneficiaries of the government's services. Inclusivity being one of the driving factors in ensuring sustainable environment, forging collaboration with service providers and stake holders will ensure that the team is guaranteed a paying livelihood and economic growth.

02.09.02 Industry innovation and infrastructure - Justification

We aim to take advantage of current infrastructure and maximise use through innovation just to achieve the movement objectives. We aim to make of use electric poles, street light poles or independent poles to fit the dust bags which will imitate the basketball poles and net. To avoid dangers associated with electrical transmission , the bags will be fitted on only verified and approved poles considered safe and disposable bag distant from the wires just to allow the dunking experience while dumping dust. To address overflow of the dirt in the bags, only empty plastic cans and dry materials will be allowed excluding foodstuff materials and once a certain weight is reached the bag closes automatically to signify its full and ready for collection. This concept was birthed to address challenges faced by growing cities and populations where social amenities are becoming increasingly overwhelmed and need to come up with measures to address the challenges before a pandemic strikes that could spiral out of control. Our campaigns will offer education, support and innovation concepts but most importantly give purpose to the communities through collaboration in decision making which will be key to the project's success. One of the main goal will be to ensure quality production of foods free from interference of wastes directly or indirectly. From the recent floods witnessed in the country, it is believed that misguided waste management practices had a hand in making the effects of floods more destructive and extreme I.e through blocked drainage points by waste leaving effects of contaminated foods and water and creating a pandemic.

Living along the shores of Lake Victoria, I have seen my community struggle at times with toxic waste dumped into the lake which in turn killing fish and making water unsafe for human and animal use. With the growing tourism exploits along the lake, an extra care and management should be adopted to avoid the waters from being further polluted by other manageable waste. Referring to the article I did about the exciting activities being embraced along the lake which will have great economic and social impact for the surrounding communities but not forgetting the negative consequences if left unchecked or unregulated.
