Design and construction of a combined air conditioner and refrigerator system using a single compressor and condenser.

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

Presently, the issue of climate change and global warming due to ozone layer depletion as a result of man’s activities has attracted considerable attention. Efforts in terms of regulations and Engineering development to reduce global warming impact are being seriously considered and encouraged. Using the conventional air conditioning and refrigerator unit consumes more energy and by extension would result to the emission of more green house gas, occupies more space and it is not economically viable. Hence, this design is aimed at addressing the aforementioned challenges and improving previous engineering works. It will interest you to note that this idea is first of its kind as there is no record of previous work or publication. As a kid, my dad was into AC/Ref and out of curiosity I asked why can’t we combine AC and Fridge since they are using same basic components. My dad replied and said it is not possible but that was not satisfying enough so I engaged my HOD to be givn this topic

Using a separate air conditioner and refrigerator unit consumes more energy, occupies more space and it is not economically viable. Hence, the need for this design

In the past most humble struggle to afford home appliances like fridge and ACs in their homes. This design is focused on waste to wealth approach where scrapes are turned into affordable compact units that would not only preserve perishable food items but also cool their homes for maximum comfort.

This design is also aimed at reducing waste from dump yards. It encourages recycling of old refrigeration systems and by extension it would reduce potential blockage of public drains. Less waste, less drain blockage possibility.Again, water is best appreciated when conditioned and the fridge compartment is solely meant for that.

It is interesting to note that is combined air conditioning and refrigerator unit is first of its kind as there is no record of previous work or publication. However, various works, operating conditions and experiments were carried out to verify vital parameters for the combined unit system performance using the conventional units

05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?

Conventional Fridge and AC OEMS like LG, Samsung etc. My compact unit design is first of its kind so practically no direct competitor yet.
