At Afrilux Biogas we convert organic matter into biogas via the process of anaerobic decomposition, which is further processed to generate heat and electrical energy, while its byproduct is used as organic manure, thereby leaving nothing to waste.

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

At Afrilux-Biogas, we produce Biogas via the decomposition of organic matter by microorganisms in an anaerobic environment, resulting in the release of methane gas. which is trapped and used to generate heat energy and electrical energy, while its byproduct is used as organic manure. The process of biogas production consists of several steps and stages to be carried out, these includes: 1.Organic material Collection: such as agricultural waste, manure, sewage sludge, food waste, are collected to serve as the primary source of organic matter for biogas production. 2. Pre-Treatment of organic matter : to avoid counter reactions. 3. Anaerobic Digestion : this is the environment void of oxygen. 4. Biogas Production: here the digestion process takes place in the bio-digester. 5. Gas Collection : here the gas from the bio-digester is trapped. 6. Gas Purification : this is to remove impurities. 7. Energy Use: cooking, electricity, vehicle fuel, etc 8. Digestate Handling : organic manure.

At Afrilux-Biogas, we offers solutions to several environmental, economic, and social problems. which include: 1. Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Biogas production mitigates greenhouse gas emissions by capturing methane, a potent greenhouse gas, during anaerobic digestion it is converted to a renewable energy source, used for electricity generation, heating and transportation hence displacing the use of fossil fuels, and reducing carbon emissions and dependence on non-renewable resources. 2. Waste Management: Biogas production provides a sustainable solution for managing organic waste streams by converting these waste materials into biogas and digestate, biogas systems help reduce the environmental impact of organic waste disposal. 3. Soil Health and Fertilizer Production: The digestate byproduct of biogas production serves as a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer that can improve soil health. 4. Renewable Energy: it is a versatile form of renewable energy, generating heat, electricity, etc.

These includes but not limited to the following: 1. Victor , popularly called Sir V. is an electrical engineer with excellence, a man with broad knowledge in science and technology, he has two degrees in electrical and electronics engineering with over two decades of work experience, he is QAQC certified, and also functions as our chief operation officer. 2. Elegbede Joseph Adetunji is a masters degree holder in Science Lab Technology, he is well read and vast in experience, he functions as our research and implementation expert.

Afrilux-Biogas is unique and innovative because it transforms a significant environmental challenge (organic waste) into a valuable resource: renewable energy. Unlike traditional waste management methods like landfilling or incineration, biogas utilizes anaerobic digestion to break down organic matter, releasing methane, which is then captured and converted into biogas. This process not only reduces harmful methane emissions but also produces a clean and renewable energy source. Additionally, biogas offers a decentralized energy solution, allowing communities to generate their own power from locally available waste materials. This approach promotes sustainability, reduces reliance on fossil fuels, and fosters resilience in the face of environmental and energy challenges. 05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?

Afrilux-biogas will face competition from other sources of energy and waste management solutions in Nigeria, Some of the competitors include: 1. Traditional Energy Sources: Traditional sources of energy like fossil fuels (oil, natural gas) and biomass (wood, charcoal) compete with biogas as they are widely used for electricity generation, cooking, and heating in Nigeria. 2. Renewable Energy Technologies: Other renewable energy technologies such as solar power, wind energy, and hydropower may compete with biogas as alternative sources of clean energy. 3. Waste Management Practices: Conventional waste management practices, including landfilling, open dumping, and incineration, compete with biogas as methods for handling organic waste materials. 4. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG): LPG, commonly known as cooking gas. 5. Grid Electricity: Although access to grid electricity is limited.
