Human hair is rich in keratin, a protein that can be broken down by keratinase into amino acids and peptides, which are essential for bird growth and health. By extracting keratinase enzymes and applying them to human hair, we produce a nutrient-rich feed that supports the dietary needs of birds, promoting better growth rates and overall health. This process not only provides an innovative solution to bird nutrition but also addresses waste management issues by recycling human hair. The main problem KeratiFeed Innovation aims to solve is twofold: waste management of human hair and the need for sustainable, nutrient-rich bird feed. Human hair, a byproduct of salons and households, often ends up in landfills, contributing to environmental waste. Simultaneously, the bird farming industry faces challenges in sourcing high-quality, affordable, and sustainable feed that supports optimal bird growth and health. By utilizing keratinase enzymes to break down human hair into valuable nutrients for bird feed, our project addresses these issues. Emmanuel’s skills in biochemical analysis and experience with lipid and protein interactions are crucial for optimizing the keratinase enzyme’s effectiveness in breaking down human hair for bird feed production. Dr. Moses Ezewanli: A PhD holder with extensive research experience and numerous publications on enzymes. As an expert in enzymology, Dr. Ezewanli brings deep knowledge of enzyme behavior, optimization, and application. His experience as an undergraduate supervisor demonstrates his ability to lead research projects and mentor teams, making him an invaluable asset in guiding the scientific and technical aspects of the project.
