Describe your project or startup in a few words
Ekodayo is a one-stop app that will allow millions of property seekers in Lagos to access verified listings, titles (Deed of Assignment, Survey Plan, CofO), property details, and agent information, with the goal of reducing stress and fraud in the city.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Lagos is experiencing a booming population. Depending on whom you ask, roughly 18 to 20 million people currently live in the city. The population has been gradually increasing, with hundreds of thousands of people flocking to the city every year. It has been projected that by 2035, over 25 million people might be dwelling in Lagos, making it one of the largest cities in the world. With the influx of people into the city come the challenges of housing. Getting a property in Lagos today involves a cumbersome and often risky process plagued by disputes and fraud, due to unclear land titles. Many properties lack proper documentation, leading to multiple claims on the same parcel of land. Fraudulent individuals often sell land they do not own, or land that is under government acquisition, leveraging forged documents and exploiting buyers' ignorance. These issues are exacerbated by fraudulent agents and developers, making it difficult for potential buyers to verify legitimacy
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Lagosians have lost 1.5 trillion naira in 4 years to real estate-related fraud. It’s estimated that this number will double by the second quarter of 2028. Ekodayo is a one-stop solution app for Lagos's property challenges. It intends to combat fraud with verified listings and reviews of agents and developers while empowering users with granular search filters to find their ideal property. By connecting users with affordable housing initiatives and streamlining regulatory hurdles, the app will bridge the gap between Lagos residents and their dream homes. Also, it will foster communication between tenants, landlords, developers, and agents, providing a platform for dispute resolution and promoting a more harmonious property market.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).

05.08 Justification
We believe ekoday is unique because of its catering specifically to Lagos' unique neighborhoods. Integrate Lagos geo-spatial data to overlay listings on a map with details like traffic congestion, flooding zones, or proximity to social amenities and implementing a rigorous verification process for real estate agents, ensuring legitimacy and building user trust. Go beyond basic reviews - allow users to rate agents on specific aspects like responsiveness, communication, and local knowledge.
05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?
Ekodayo have several competitors, including: • Traditional Real Estate Agencies: These established agencies have a strong presence and network of agents, but often lack transparency and user-friendly technology. • Online Listing Platforms: Platforms like PropertyPro.ng or Nigeria Property Centre offer property listings, but may not have functionalities like advanced search filters, agent verification, or dispute resolution. • Social Media Groups: Facebook groups dedicated to Lagos rentals or property sales can be a source of listings, but lack the structure and security of a dedicated app. Here's how ekodayo will differentiate itself: • Hyperlocal Focus: Cater to specific Lagos neighborhoods with details like traffic data, flooding zones, and proximity to amenities. • Verified Agents & Reviews: Implement a rigorous verification process with in-depth agent reviews highlighting responsiveness, communication, and local knowledge.
10.06 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?
Yes. I have actively contributed to fostering women's entrepreneurship within my community. Through my efforts, Waterbed Farm Ltd and Dah Creative Agency Ltd, both women-owned businesses, were successfully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria. Additionally, Toria Fashion, a startup co-founded with a female colleague, exemplifies my commitment to this cause. Furthermore, I have established a dedicated WhatsApp group to provide ongoing coaching and support to aspiring women entrepreneurs.
