Describe your project or startup in a few words
Introducing “Na You Sabi”, the revolutionary app for forging authentic bonds with others Nigerians in a digital age. Chuckle, converse and connect within your cultural context. Coming soon!
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Introducing “Na You Sabi”, the interactive mobile app tailored for Nigerians to foster meaningful relationships through diverse conversation prompts. - Sync up your app to play for free! Available in Android and IOS. - Engage deeply with entertaining prompts designed, to reflect of our Nigerian culture and, for specific player dynamics eg friends, Nigerians in diaspora, women only. - Earn “Sabi Silver” by sharing honest and nuanced responses, redeemable for app merchandise and power-ups like "Oya Now" to dig deeper. - Partake in our prompt forums to connect with other Nigerians globally on specific prompts. - Join NYS Nation to complete weekly challenges to enhance interpersonal skills. - Get a premium account to unlock more features: more specific prompt packs, more languages, create your own prompt pack or forum discussions, quizzes, articles, more merch and more! - Stay in the loop on future updates and connect with us in the streets of Nigeria via our social media platforms!
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Na You Sabi’s primary aim is to solve the loneliness epidemic ravaging the world, by starting with my own people - Nigeria. Experts agree that a vaccine to loneliness (and rising mental health issues) is authentic connections - relationships where one is knows and is known ("sabi" in pidgin). This is true even of Nigerias underneath our stonewalling tendencies in interpersonal relationships that keep us from truly knowing one another. Na You Sabi hopes to motivate our Nigerian Gen. Y and Z audience to embrace deeper relationships by: - equipping them with interpersonal skills in lighthearted and deep conversations. - incentive and normalize honest and deep conversations with Sabi Silver and positive reinforcement from peers in forums. Deep conversations are often avoided and stonewalled with quips like "na you sabi" (hence the app name). - to evaluate normative Nigerian communication styles in our lives; uplift healthy ones and assess unhealthy ones.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
“Na You Sabi” (NYS) brings three new dimensions to the prompt-based game market: - Culture-Specific Prompts: considering our great pride in our culture, it is astounding how culturally ambiguous or euro-centric similar prompt-based games are. NYS aims to fill this void by creating a conversation game that is unique to Nigerians, our culture and our experiences. - Explicit Promotion of Interpersonal Skills: rather than interpersonal skills being the game’s subliminal message, it is important to identify these skills - what they are and aren't - for our users to objectively improve them. Hence why NYS includes weekly challenges, articles and forum discussions - it is entertainment with emotional education. - Accessibility: unlike its competitors, NYS will be available in different Nigerian languages and exist primarily as mobile app as opposed to physical cards. NYS embraces technology, rather than damning it, for authentic connection in today's digital age.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
Na You Sabi is primarily aimed at Gen. Z and Millennials in Nigeria. Why? - They make up the tech-savvy generations. - They were most affected by the pandemic during one's most crucial years in developing social skills. - They value authentic dialogue and have a hunger for open & deep discourse. - They have the highest and increasing statistics about loneliness and mental health issues - They are the most willing to push back against cultural norms, such as normative communication styles, and so are the most likely to change it. - For Nigerians in diaspora, these generations are also more likely to feel disconnected from their heritage.

Emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills are essentials to life, yet are rarely taught. "Na You Sabi" will be a platform that champions emotional literacy and people skills, and encourages its users to continually develop and practice these skills. Additionally, one of the primary reasons for termination in the Nigerian job market is poor communication skills. Considering that Gen Z. and Millennials make up a majority of this sect, learning good communication skills can literally promote lifelong learning opportunities. NYS can augment their communication skills at work, prevent premature termination and open doors for better opportunities through effective communication when networking.

Technologically, NYS' uniqueness is amplified by its interactive interface. The interface will allow players to sync up their devices to mimic a physical game eg passing the deck to one another, shuffling the prompt deck. They can also vote on answers, discuss via voice notes if separated by distance, save challenging prompts for weekly challenges, to name a few - all via the mobile app. Na You Sabi also satisfies the unmet demand for culture-specific entertainment and fast global accessibility, improving upon the premise of prompt-based games in Nigeria.
05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?
“Na You Sabi” (NYS)'s main competitors are Nkeko Games and UnboxED - popular prompt-based games in the market. However, Na You Sabi is unique from its competitors, as it: - will be a prompt-based game that is unique to Nigerians, our culture and our experiences. - intentionally goes beyond mere entertainment by being a platform for emotional education. - will be available in different Nigerian languages and exist primarily as mobile app. NYS fully embraces technology for authentic connections and as a sustainable practice.
