Describe your project or startup in a few words

With the recent ban on polystyrene plates in the commercial capital of Nigeria, which is Lagos. This polystyrene plate has greatly contributed to pollution across this state. This is why I thought of converting banana stems to disposable plates.

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

We are looking forward to combating environmental pollution created by petroleum products like pets, polystyrene and others non-degradable polymers in our society. We intend reducing these pollutants via the used of biodegradable and eco-friendly products. We discovered that bananas and plantains stems have been regarded as waste in most rural areas that engaged in agriculture. We want to convert these stems to fibres which will be used in production of biodegradable plates for packaging foods. Also in packaging other products.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

1. Reducing pollution in our societies by the use of biodegradable products for packaging instead of the regular polyethylene ones.

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).

1. They are biodegradable products which can easily decompose. 2. It is avoidable because the raw materials are locally sorted.

We intend to also have our farm which will plant bananas and plantains in a large scale. We will also get these plantains stems from other farms Our target markets are: 1. Supermarkets 2. Eateries 3. Fashion stores 4. Food vendors
