Describe your project or startup in a few words
We want to drive the transformation of Nigeria’s manufacturing industry through the development of locally made low-cost 3D printers for the Nigeria market and providing training programs and courses on additive manufacturing to students in schools.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
3D printing or Additive manufacturing is set to revolutionize manufacturing and it presents an opportunity for developing countries such as Nigeria to transform their manufacturing industries. Our solution centers around driving this transformation through the development of locally made 3D printers for the Nigeria Market as well as providing top tier education on additive manufacturing to students across schools in Nigeria. This will be done by forging partnerships with leading experts on additive manufacturing to join hands with us in delivering courses and trainings on additive manufacturing via a blend of physical and virtual classes. We hope to be able to deliver quality education to students even those in remote areas at an incredibly low cost.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
1. High cost of 3D printers - Our locally produced 3D printers will be significantly cheaper than the current imported ones. Absence of affordable 3D printers have shut down many people from participating in the emerging technology market that is 3D printing. As the first company to start 3D printer manufacturing in Nigeria, our mission is to change that and instead open the market to everyone. 2. Lack or inadequate awareness about 3D Printing technology. We will leverage technology to reach many students right in their classrooms to teach and train them on 3D Printing and it’s applications.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
3D printing is more efficient and environmentally friendly method of manufacturing compared to traditional manufacturing methods. Nigeria with a population of over 200 million people imports manufactured goods worth of $10 bn annually. Our solution proposes the development of local manufacturing industry and capacity via 3D printing. 1. This will lead to job creation, 2. less imports & more exports, 3. boost in value of the local currency Thus economic growth in the country.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

02.01.01 My project contributes to the No poverty goal
5
02.01.02 No poverty - Justification
Our project seeks to empower people including those living in remote rural communities to be able to manufacture items of need at an affordable cost such as for disaster relief, humanitarian aid, basic medical devices/tools on-site and on demand thus cutting the need for transporting and warehousing. Additionally our project seeks to promote economic empowerment of all people including those in rural communities through the ability to own 3D printers make items of value and sell to earn means of livelihood
02.02.01 My project contributes to the Zero hunger goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.02.02 Zero hunger - Justification
Our project seeks to enhance the ability of small holder farmers in rural communities to be able to have access to customized farming tools and spare parts for farm machineries at a reduced cost thereby leading to increased production of agricultural produce and more income for the farmers. Also additive manufacturing is also used in food production to produce custom food especially for people with swallowing problems or other related medical conditions. This leads to a reduction in hunger.
02.03.01 My project contributes to the Good health and well-being goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.03.02 Good health and well-being - Justification
Additive manufacturing has significant impact in the health and medical field. Prosthetics, orthotics, medical devices, customized medicine are now being 3D printed with great efficiency at a reduced cost thereby ensuring good health and wellbeing of many people including those that would have otherwise found it difficult to afford such treatments or care products due to economic factors.

02.09.02 Industry innovation and infrastructure - Justification
Our project seeks to empower people with the knowledge and skills to: 1. manufacture goods at or near point of consumption(distributed manufacturing) thereby cutting down shipping costs. 2. Manufacture goods on demand thereby eliminating warehousing cost. 3. Manufacture spare parts on site resulting in reduced lead time. 4. Efficient manufacturing technology reducing material and energy waste. 5. Innovate and Create New things

Not answered02.12.01 My project contributes to the Responsible consumption and production goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.12.02 Responsible consumption and production - Justification
Our project seeks to promote the adoption of additive manufacturing technologies in place of traditional manufacturing processes. Additive manufacturing is more efficient and environmentally friendly. It generates less material and energy waste in the process. It enables the manufacture of goods at or near points of consumption thus cutting down on shipping and transportation costs and emission of greenhouse gases.

05.08 Justification
04. 3D printers already exists however they are produced in foreign countries and have to be imported into Nigeria at great costs. We are simply making 3D printers that are affordable to people in Nigeria. 3D printing service providers in Lagos and Abuja already provide training and classes on 3D printing at their respective offices. We are expanding this idea and using technology to make it possible to take these trainings and classes to classrooms within school premises thereby increasing convenience for the students while providing us access to more customers 05. Our project is about producing low cost 3D printers for the Nigerian market. It is an extension of the reprap 3D printer designs that were developed nearly a decade ago. 06. Presently all 3D printers have to be imported into Nigeria as no local company produces them. This makes 3D printers to be unnecessarily expensive. We want to change that by making them here in Nigeria and selling at an affordable price.
05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?
Stampar3d Lagos and 3D place Abuja. These companies are our major competitors. They are 3D Printing services providers. What stands us out is the fact we will have first movers advantage in being the first company to begin 3D printer manufacturing in Nigeria. Given that the government of Nigeria is encouraging local production of goods we may receive government backing and support whereas the competition may not get similar treatment.
10.06 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?
