The DigitalSun Program is a transformative initiative designed to empower rural youth by offering comprehensive training in three key areas: digital skills, renewable energy, and agricultural innovation. 1. Digital Skills and Literacy Participants learn basic to advanced computer operations, effective internet use, and cybersecurity awareness. Courses include graphic design, video editing, and coding to prepare for various digital careers. 2. Renewable Energy Solutions Training covers solar energy principles, installation, and maintenance. Youth gain hands-on experience with solar-powered systems for irrigation, lighting, and machinery, promoting energy efficiency and sustainability. 3. Agricultural Innovation and Food Security Courses focus on modern farming techniques like precision farming, hydroponics, and aquaponics. Training includes solar-powered irrigation, water management, crop selection, pest management, and post-harvest technologies
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The DigitalSun Program addresses the critical challenges of digital divide, lack of renewable energy knowledge, and modern agricultural inefficiencies in rural areas. Many rural youth are excluded from the benefits of digital technology and sustainable practices, leading to limited educational and economic opportunities. Additionally, traditional farming methods and reliance on non-renewable energy sources hinder productivity and environmental sustainability. By providing comprehensive training in digital skills, renewable energy solutions, and innovative agricultural practices, DigitalSun empowers youth to enhance their livelihoods, improve food security, and promote sustainable development, ultimately bridging the gap between rural and urban areas.

the major benefits are 1. Skills Development: Offers training in digital literacy, renewable energy, and modern agriculture, enhancing job prospects and entrepreneurial skills. 2. Economic Advancement: Stimulates local economies by fostering businesses in sustainable sectors and creating employment opportunities. 3. Climate Action: Promotes solar energy adoption and sustainable farming practices to mitigate environmental impact and adapt to climate change. 4. Infrastructure Improvement: Installs solar-powered water and energy systems, ensuring reliable and clean infrastructure services. 5. The DigitalSun Program is aimed at empowering youth in rural areas, particularly those facing economic, educational, and social disadvantages. These young individuals often lack access to modern digital technologies, sustainable energy solutions, and innovative agricultural practices, limiting their opportunities for growth and development. By targeting this underserved demographic, the program seeks to bridge the digital divide and provide the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world. The program also serves aspiring young entrepreneurs, farmers, and community leaders who are eager to implement sustainable practices and drive positive change in their communities, fostering a more inclusive and prosperous future.

Peace Edward (Female) is passionate about education. She has worked in different capacities (teacher, administrator, coordinator) within the education field. SHe has an NCE in biology education, a degree in biology education and currently pursuing a masters in educational psychology. She plays a major role in our educational design process Samaila Isimbabi (male) is an engineer by trade, he has a passion for solar and he is the president of Nortrum solar ltd specializing in street lights and community electrification.

The DigitalSun Program is not entirely new but an innovative enhancement of existing concepts. While digital literacy and renewable energy training are well-established, our program uniquely integrates these elements with a focus on rural empowerment and sustainability. By providing hands-on, practical training tailored to the needs of rural communities and combining it with strong mentorship and community support, we create a model that significantly boosts local economic development and resilience. This approach improves upon traditional models by ensuring long-term impact and inclusivity, making it a cutting-edge solution in the field.
05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?
The main potential competitors of the DigitalSun Program will include organizations and initiatives focused on rural development, digital skills training, and renewable energy education, however what makes us stand out are 1. Standardized and Integrated Approach: We combine digital skills, renewable energy training, and sustainable agriculture into a cohesive curriculum tailored to rural needs.We are taking a more detailed approach to our training, focusing on the educational aspect, e.g our pedagogic approach and instructional system. 2. Our robust online training platform that leverages our understanding of each host community 3. Sustainability and Long-Term Impact: Our training is designed to create lasting change, with a focus on sustainable practices and local economic growth, ensuring that the benefits extend far beyond the initial training period.
10.06 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?
Yes, we give talks about it with students. sometimes we visit secondary schools to organize workshops where amongst the many things discussed, the ability and importance women will play in the development of corporate sectors. Last year, we also held a digital skills workshop for NYSC members, where this very topic was discussed.
