Studellar is an innovative mobile application that assists learners to learn with ease and retain knowledge through the principle of spaced recall. It also enables them to connect with other learners around the world who share their learning interests.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Studellar is a mobile app on which learners can study materials in an interactive manner that includes highlighting points, making notes, text to voice conversion, and making flashcards both manually and automatically (AI generation) with special attention to the points they highlighted and noted. Thereafter, it enables them to consolidate knowledge through spaced recall whereby it periodically brings up the flashcard questions for them to answer. It also connects learners who share similar learning interests. The community of users on the platform can form groups and share ideas, notes and flashcards. Users can sell and buy courses and ebooks on the app. They can also exchange digital gifts on the app to appreciate one another's resourcefulness in the community. The algorithm will match users with courses, ebooks, posts, groups and other users based on their learning interests and levels.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Studellar is meant to solve the problem of a poor and dwindling learning habit among the youth in Nigeria and beyond; comprising: 1. Ineffective study habits: Spaced recall has been proven to be a potent learning method but the problem is that many students find themselves too lazy to practice it because they have to muster some will power to practice it, which is not usually easy. Studellar will ease them through this. 2. Deficient social media stimulations to study: it is a world of social media and most young students are hooked on it with poor contribution to their learning. It is a failed battle trying to wean them off it, but we can give them a more fruitful alternative for their studies. 3. There is poor short term rewards to encourage youths to take their studies seriously in the fast-paced internet world where attention has become the new currency. For attention and financial gain, most youths prioritize online activities detrimental to their education.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
1. Studellar will provide an interactive study platform for learners by allowing them to highlight, note and listen to their study materials. Unlike most reading apps in which the highlights and notes are not used any further, Studellar will take note of the highlights and notes in formulating flashcards. 2. It will help learners to consolidate their learning by making them recall their learning periodically. It automatically brings up the flashcard questions, saving them the stress of looking them up. 3. It will provide a community of learners with similar interests who stimulates each other to excel. 4. It will enable diligent students to gain attention of their peers by engaging them on topics they have comprehended, sharing useful notes and flashcards they prepared. 5. It will enable users to gain financially through receiving gifts, selling courses or ebooks on subjects they understand well. 6. It will reduce the involvement of young students in detrimental online activities.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
Our primary target is high school students and undergraduates. They are mostly between 13 to 30 years, developing in their academics and career, and needing effective but user-friendly tools. Though they like to succeed, they find their subjects boring and stressful especially when they study and forget. Furthermore, they find it rigorous using effective learning method of spaced recall that would enable them consolidate their learning. Their needs for association, attention and social validation make them susceptible to online trends that are mostly detrimental to their academic and career development. However, they will equally yield to trends that are beneficial to their academic and career development if such would bring them attention and social validation. In Nigeria alone, they're about 30% of the over 200million population (Statista 2024). Secondary target is professionals and teachers who fancy mentoring younger students, even as they themselves grow in their professions.

1. Peace Anyanwu is a graduate of Marketing and a product designer. She was awarded the intern of the year 2023 after her product design internship at the Genesis Tech Hub. She is a very creative individual who understands how to blend art with technology. She is the chief product designer for the Studellar app. 2. Alexander Aneke (Jace) is a software engineer with incredible technical skills. He is a graduate of the Advanced Diploma in Software Engineering from the Aptech Computer Education, and was retained as faculty member being among the top graduates. He is a freelance developer working remote for a number of tech companies locally and internationally. He is the lead software engineer for the Studellar app. 3. Esther Dania is a lawyer who graduated top of her class from the University of Nigeria. She is a senior associate with a reputable law firm in Enugu. She handles our legal processes.

1. Studellar promotes the mental health of young people as they engage the community of learners who share their learning interests. This enables them to express their ideas and exercise their minds in critical thinking, thereby improving their self esteem. 2. Many of the health problems Nigerians have can be traced to ignorance. By engaging the users in educational activities, including health awareness, Studellar improves good health and well-being. 3. Engaging in the educationally useful features of Studellar disengages the users from harmful addictions such as internet pornography.

Studellar will partner with various state ministries for education in Nigeria to onboard their high school students on the Studellar app to improve their academic performance. Such partnerships will also train the teachers on how to make use of the app to bring the best out of their students.

05.08 Justification
1. Studellar is a unique combination of reading app and recalling app. It allows learners to both study and recall on same app. 2. While most recall apps offer only manual preparation of flashcards, Studellar also offers AI generated flashcards. This automatic generation of flashcards is not done randomly, rather it takes into considerations the points that the learner highlighted and noted while studying. 3. Studellar is probably the only app that offers the above listed features with an engaging community. The algorithm will provide visibility and connection for users according to their learning interests to improve engagement and the utility of the information the users will come across in the community.
05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?
1. Various reading/study apps e.g pdf Reader: They enable learners to read, highlight and take notes on the app but most of those highlights and notes are not used any further. However, Studellar considers the highlights and notes in making flashcards for users. 2. Flashcard apps eg. Anki: These apps enables users to make flashcards and even share them with other users. Studellar further enables learners to study on it, automatically generate flashcards and pops up the flashcard questions periodically to the user. 3. Social media platforms eg Facebook: Many young students spend most of their time on them but Studellar provides more useful engagements beneficial for their education. 4. E-Book selling platforms eg. Selar: Many authors sell books on these platforms to a random audience but Studellar will match ebooks to users who has interests in the topics.
