By transforming recycled plastic waste into durable building blocks, EcoBlox provides a innovative solution for low income communities while promoting environmental leadership among local youth. Project Overview EcoBlox aims to address the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): - SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation - SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities - SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production - SDG 13: Climate Action - SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals Key Components 1. Recycled Plastic Building Materials: EcoBlox develops and manufactures building blocks made from 100% recycled plastic waste, reducing the need for virgin materials and the amount of plastic in landfills and oceans. 2. The main problem EcoBlox aims to solve is the triple threat of plastic waste, affordable housing, and youth empowerment in low income communities. Plastic Waste: Plastic waste has become a global epidemic, with millions of tons of plastic ending up in landfills and oceans every year. This not only harms the environment but also contaminates water sources, affects marine life, and enters the food chain. The plastic waste problem is particularly severe in low income communities, where waste management infrastructure is often inadequate or non existent. Affordable Housing: Access to affordable housing is a significant challenge in low income communities, where families often live in substandard housing or informal settlements. This can lead to health problems, limited access to basic services like water and sanitation, and increased vulnerability to natural disasters. Youth Empowerment: Youth in low income communities often lack access to education, skills training, and job opportunity
