PROJECT 100K-2030 is a Training and Professional Development program for African teachers to become authentic learning designers and to drive transformative learning experiences.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
PROJECT 100K-2030 is an initiative of Eazy-Digi, an education consulting organization that uses research, technology and networking to transform education in Africa. This is a training program that is focused on empowering African teachers to design authentic and transformative learning experiences using the power of design thinking. They will learn how to use any topic in any subject as a tool to design learning experiences that offers the African child the skills, knowledge and competencies that their immediate is asking for. This program will empower to teach "skills" beyond just teaching "subjects". This will deliver a localized "Coursera" experience designed with "Microlearning instructional design" to make the learning experiences seamless and reduce cognitive load alongside for an African teacher who already has a lot to deal with daily.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
An average African teacher is trained to teach "subjects" and not skills. The can only deliver subject-based knowledge and boast of subject mastery which is no longer a necessity in a world where technology that can also subject-based knowledge better than humans. There is a serious skills gaps on the African continent and there is need for teachers who know how to teach skills while in the classroom, which is where design thinking comes in. The knowledge gap we have on the African continent is not subject-based, it's not that we don't know Math, English etc the real gap is both context and skill-based because as the world of knowledge keeps evolving, teachers have stayed put on delivering subject-based knowledge and so the realities that the students are exposed are limited and not relevant. A new kind of training is required to build teachers that can raise learners that will become agent of transformations.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
1. Expose African teachers to design thinking as an innovative approach to teaching and learning today to prepare today's learner for the VUCA world. 2. Train African teachers to possess context-mastery beyond subject-mastery so that they can deliver high level knowledge (content) and learning experiences beyond the traditional 3. Empower African teachers to teach skills to their learners. 2024 has been declared by the African Union as the Year Of Education with the theme "Educate an African fit for the 21st century". This program will empower African teachers to understand the design, process and outcome (DPO Frameork) that offers in-demand skills to learners beyond just delivering subject-based knowledge.

As mentioned earlier, the learning outcome takes the shape of a product, service, discovery or solution. What we see today is that students are engaged with just "Paper problems" that are not connected to current issues in the society but our program ensures that learners are equipped to tackle real problems in the society such as hunger.

05.08 Justification
Our product is unique in the sense that it will introduce design thinking to African teachers with a creative approach so that they can apply it in their daily engagements in the classroom. Teachers will be trained to first acquire in-demand skills and further deliver same to their learners.
