01.01 Describe your project in more detail
The "Digital Literacy Academy" project is designed to equip secondary school/O-level graduates with essential computer and digital literacy skills. This comprehensive training and placement program aims to bridge the digital divide and enhance the employability of young graduates while they await university admission. By providing practical, hands-on training in key digital competencies, we empower participants with the skills needed to secure entry-level positions in various industries, thus offering them immediate earning opportunities. Additionally, the program prepares these students for academic success by giving them a competitive edge in their university studies. Through a combination of classroom instruction, online learning modules, and real-world applications, We ensure that our graduates are not only proficient in digital tools and technologies but also capable of leveraging these skills to drive personal and professional growth. This initiative aligns with SGD8
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The primary problem this project seeks to address is the significant gap in digital literacy among secondary school/O-level graduates, which limits their employability and earning potential during the transition period before entering university. Many young graduates lack the essential computer and digital skills required by employers, resulting in decreased job opportunities and earning potential. This digital skills gap not only hampers their immediate ability to earn a living but also places them at a disadvantage in their future academic pursuits, as university environments increasingly demand proficiency in digital technologies. The lack of access to quality digital literacy training restricts youth from fully participating in the digital economy and earning. By providing comprehensive digital literacy training and job placement support, this project aims to empower young graduates, get jobs, earn money, and succeed in their studies,

Better Job Opportunities: The project helps secondary school/O-level graduates learn important computer and digital skills that are needed for many jobs today. This makes it easier for them to find work and start earning money while they wait to get into university. Roles such as customer support, retail store associate, clerk, receptionist, cashier e.t.c Academic Edge: Graduates who go through the training will be better prepared for university. Knowing how to use digital tools and technology gives them an advantage in their studies and helps them adjust quickly to university life. Due to the job experience; they are also better equipped to choose a career path Financial Independence: By teaching valuable digital skills, the project helps young graduates earn their own money and support themselves. This boosts their confidence and helps reduce economic inequalities, giving everyone a fair chance to succeed in the digital world.

Recent Graduates: Young people who have just finished secondary school and are looking to improve their skills. Underprivileged Youth: Graduates from low-income families or underserved communities who lack access to quality training. Job Seekers: Graduates looking to improve their chances of finding a job. Aspiring Students: Graduates preparing for higher education who need digital skills for university. This project provides essential digital skills to improve employability, support higher education, and promote financial independence.

Profile of the Founder Maryam Yusuf is the visionary behind the Digital Literacy project. With a background in information technology and over 10 years of experience, Maryam currently serves as the lead HR consultant for Marvel Advisory Consulting LTD. Throughout her career, she noticed that many MSMEs had roles requiring basic digital skills but couldn't afford university graduates. Recognizing this gap, Maryam decided to create a program to train secondary and O-level graduates in essential digital skills, enabling them to meet the needs of MSMEs. Her extensive experience in HR and IT, combined with her passion for youth empowerment, drives the success of this initiative.

My project addresses the specific gap in digital literacy training for secondary school/O-level graduates who are waiting to enter university. While there are various initiatives targeting youth empowerment and digital skills development, few specifically cater to this transitional period. By focusing on this niche demographic, my project fills a critical gap in existing programs, providing tailored training and support to meet the unique needs of young graduates during this pivotal stage of their academic and professional journey.
