Describe your project or startup in a few words
Agents Model Telemedicine is a tech based solution to increase access to quality healthcare, primarily in rural areas with Telemedicine delivered to end-users via the agencies of existing skilled and semiskilled health workers in underserved places.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
We will pool Yoruba speaking Doctors on an online resource to deliver medical services to rural areas that are otherwise without such quality of trained professionals. With the use of a smartphone in the minimum, an agent is able to set up a video conferencing appointment of a patient with a medical doctor. The end-users are largely without smartphones and the agents fill in this gap, like we have agents for Telcos, POS and INEC BVAS. However these agents will be hosted in 'healthcare' centres to facilitate a comprehensive telehealth service like drug dispensing or recording vitals. Community Health Workers in Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC) and Patent Medicine Sellers who serve these population largely will be able to facilitate medical consultation for the patients in few clicks. We will cater also to non rural settings without the use of agents. The rural "health posts"(agents premises) will subscribe to this paid service as an added value of their proposition in their communities.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Mitigate the deficiency arising from the inadequate patients to doctor ratio, Nigerian average is 1 Doctor to 6000 of the population, which is getting worse with the economic exodus. Villages don't stand a chance of retaining qualified Doctors. We will teleport their service to the villages. We will reduce hospital visits by sieving appointments to needful ones. We will improve early diagnosis by timely medical review of incidences by a professional.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
Early diagnosis - at a beck villagers cans be properly informed about their medical complaints. Cost of transport - monies spent on traveling to see Doctors at nearest secondary healthcares centres are marginally saved. There are some of such visits that are unnecessary. Quality Service - quacks run amok in rural settings where there are no available professionals but with this, quackery is demarketed and reworked to up referrals.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
Dwellers in rural places of Ekiti State as pilot. The stats says an average Ekiti citizen lives 5km from the nearest health centres and 27% travel . With this solution, the healthpost will move closer. The patients are better off. Also, with our solution, people in urbanised areas can leverage Telemedicine to reduce hospital visits and avoid self medication.
