Our project is an innovative EdTech platform that caters to the artistic development and learning needs of aspiring young artists in schools.

Our initiative involves the development of an innovative app and digital platform dedicated to the arts, with the goal of addressing the gap in artistic education within South African public schools. This platform is designed to offer customized resources and opportunities for art students in South Africa, fostering growth and skill enhancement in the creative field. Through the democratization of art education in underserved schools and communities, our objective is to facilitate engaging learning experiences using various artistic mediums like images, videos, music, and interactive projects. With a rich pool of contemporary artists in South Africa, this platform will enable students to effectively absorb information and encourage exploration of sustainability-related themes. Recognizing the significant role of art and culture in our lives, both as a practice and a subject, we understand their deep integration within our communities through a robust educational and developmental frame

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

Despite the advancements made in the edtech industry, there remains a significant gap in addressing the artistic development and learning needs of young aspiring artists in government schools. This is particularly evident in the lack of adequate arts education opportunities provided to these students. Consequently, many of them do not pursue further studies or careers in the arts.

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).

Numerous publications have widely recognized the pressing issue surrounding the absence of learning and development platforms specifically tailored for arts students in government schools. The significance of the arts in the 21st century skills toolkit has been overshadowed by the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), rapid technological advancements, and the emphasis on STEM subjects. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to prioritize and acknowledge the role of art in society, considering its numerous benefits. Despite the progress made in the EdTech industry, there remains a significant gap in addressing the artistic development and learning needs of young aspiring artists in government schools. This is particularly evident in the inadequate arts education opportunities provided to these students. As a result, many of them do not pursue further studies or careers in the arts.

Through the establishment of a school art-focused educational platform that emphasizes teaching students about South African artists and the Diaspora, we can successfully connect emerging, mid-level, and established artists by sharing knowledge and information, while also integrating a comprehensive South African element.
