Describe your project or startup in a few words
My project is all about sustainable fashion using second hand clothes
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
I have always loved thrifting because I always get to create my own style using unique clothing that are unavailable in retail stores and because I also get to help stop pollution by purchasing used clothes, in my project I want to teach people on how you can recreate your "old" clothes or clothes that you no longer wear into something that you've always wanted. Throwing your old clothes away is not good for the environment, why throw them away when I can recreate them for you into pieces that you love or a design that you love, I also want to teach people that you can also sell your clothes if you no longer use them, someone else might want to have what you already have.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
When old clothes are thrown away and end up in landfills, they become part of the growing textile waste problem. Contrary to what one might expect, textiles do not decompose easily in a landfill. In fact, the decomposition process can take years, if not decades. When people become aware of that they might start recycling their old clothes, it's important for us to try and save our environment at all cost.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
It reduces the amount of water and energy needed to produce new clothing, and in the end, saves valuable resources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Just think of all the air pollution and water pollution that doesn't occur because you're upcycling your clothes.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
My project is aimed at anyone and everyone, I want to teach and encourage as many people as I can about the importance of upcycling and how it affects them in their everyday lives.
