ECOTYRE SA is dedicated to addressing the environmental challenge of waste tyres in South Africa. Our project focuses on the recycling of used and condemned tyres into valuable raw materials such as crumb rubber, steel, and textile fibers. Our advanced recycling technology processes tyres in an environmentally friendly manner, reducing landfill waste and promoting resource recovery. By transforming waste into reusable materials, we contribute to a circular economy and support sustainable development goals. Our operations also generate employment opportunities and stimulate local economic growth.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

ECOTYRE SA aims to tackle the critical issue of waste tyre accumulation in landfills, which poses significant environmental hazards such as soil and water contamination, air pollution from burning tyres, and breeding grounds for disease-carrying pests. By recycling these waste tyres, we not only mitigate these environmental risks but also reduce the demand for virgin materials, conserving natural resources and lowering carbon emissions associated with tyre production and disposal.

Mr. B. Xaba: A seasoned scientist with over 15 years' experience in R&D and manufacturing. He is currently the Technical Services Manager at the Packaging Innovation Centre at Mpact and holds master’s degrees in Analytical Chemistry and Metallurgy. Mrs. S. Holomo: A Product and Proposition Manager at Vodacom with over a decade of project management experience. She is also a qualified Business Analyst, previously serving as a Senior Business Analyst at FNB and Vodacom.
