Tanzania as most African countries has seen their share of effects caused by poor waste disposal methods. Our project is on a mission to build the proper infrastructure and culture that will lead to practising zero-waste initiatives and improving lives.

01.01 Describe your startup in more detail

Afia Eco Waste Solutions is an integrated waste management services that offers waste collection, transportation, and resource recovery of waste services. We effectively leverage the use of innovative technology that limits use of traditional methods such as CRM systems, and cashless mobile payments. Our main aim is to reduce the improper waste dumping habits and promoting resource recovery in terms or recycling, reusing, and creation of new products such as plastic bricks, plastic roads, plastic bars. To reach this goal we need to ensure that waste segregation is properly handled from source by providing the clients with proper infrastructure to aid with their segregating and storage.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

The main problem are all the effects caused by poor waste disposal such as climate change or global warming caused by the greenhouse gases emitted from landfills, unclean environment, improve waste storage at all levels from residential to businesses, reduce the carbon footprint by properly recycling all required products

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).

Proper disposal and recycling: with our services the people will have a reliable waste collections provider but also provide recycling services of the same products hence reducing our carbon footprints. Waste minimisation: our mission is to reduce the amount of waste that were suppose to end up in landfills. Eco systems protection; by properly collecting and recycling waste we protect our soil, air, and water sources.

01.04 Please describe who exactly your startup’s product/service is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

The target beneficiaries in general is Mother Nature itself where we aim to reduce all of effects caused by improper waste disposal such as reducing burning of waste and street dumping and global warming caused by greenhouse gases emissions, but rather than that target beneficiaries are our target market from residential to businesses that produce waste in their daily operations

Our resource recovery includes use of organic waste as food for black soldier flies that in the end are used a recipe for chicken feed and the frass fertiliser has been proven as a more sustainable use than regular synthetic fertilizer. We work with partners such as Chanzi farming by providing such waste.
