Advanced Homeschool Project is an education facilitation application that pairs homeschoolers within primary to secondary school grade equivalents to certified professional teachers and freelance tutors.

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

The concept of the Advanced Homeschool Project is based on two institutions which are the home, and school. The project involves the creation of a software application to pair parents and homeschoolers to qualified teachers. Upon the creation of the application, homeschoolers, and guardians will be able to search for qualified teachers through an inbuilt location and profile system. After homeschoolers or guardians have identified their preferred tutor, they are given a window for communication and negotiation with the tutor during a three day minimum. Users will be allowed to extend or exterminate the negotiation period if they are not persuaded. Finally, when an agreement has been reached, a feature is activated for both parties to sign and approve an online contract. Users will then have the option of selecting a teaching package with a meal, snack or none at all. The advanced teacher on the platform visits and quality teaching is commenced in the comfort of the home.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

The influx of students into educational institutions due to growing population has widened the teacher to student ratio. Student academic needs are met only at a generalized class level which fails to assess the individual student capability and to meet learning difficulties. Moreover, there are several doubts about whether online studies are a true reflection of student participation and competence which is due to the fact that online learning is usually unsupervised. The Advanced Homeschool Project, therefore, seeks to educate and bridge the learning gap of children, allowing homeschoolers to learn at their own pace by connecting such students to tutors who provide individualized education for the holistic intellectual, emotional and social development of the learner.

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).

The benefits of Advanced Homeschool Project are in three folds. These are accessible and competency based education, social cohesion and employment. Through the advanced homeschool app parents can become actively involved in the intellectual development of their wards. Homeschoolers receive a better understanding of themselves and teaching materials due to the personalized participatory approach to teaching and learning. A second benefit of the product is social cohesion. The invitation of tutors into homes would form new relationships which would foster Africa’s values of friendship. The student benefits from this by getting his social skills enhanced since the tutor-student relationship develops from a stranger phase to a mentor-student experience. Additionally, a significant benefit of the product has to do with employment. Certified teachers and tutors are given the opportunity to earn a living by sharing their knowledge.

01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

There are three groups of people who are going to benefit from the Advanced Homeschool project. These are homeschooled students, parents and tutors. These three beneficiaries are labeled as the triunity of home studies by the project. Students benefits by receiving intellectual advancement and a subsequent boost in social intelligence through interaction with the Advanced tutor. The parent benefits by receiving satisfactory academic performance and assurance of their ward’s contribution to society through the imparted knowledge and skills. The tutor benefits significantly in the form of remuneration and employment.

The project contributes to the quality education goal by ensuring accessible education and encouraging the participatory education of learners. Through the Advanced Homeschool Initiative, the quality of education received is improved in the form of a better student to teacher ratio. This implies that the peculiar challenges of the homeschooler is readily noticed, assessed and worked on together with the Advanced tutor.

The project promotes gender equality by offering equal opportunity for the tutors and guardians to sign up to the application. The final approval for the tutoring session is at the sole discretion of the guardian requesting for the homeschool tutor. Advanced Homeschool gives no preferential treatment or shows no gender bias when approving registrations to the platform. Advance Homeschool’s responsibility revolves around confirming the identities of users based on the bio data, identifiers and other documents which will be required to ensure the safety of our users.

Advanced Homeschool provides opportunity for teachers and tutors to seek self employment. Institutionalized teachers have the opportunity to take on advanced homeschooling jobs to make extra income. A greater opportunity lies ahead for freelance tutors . Individuals who have specialized knowledge and fresh graduates are given the opportunity to trade their knowledge for payment. This, however, is subject to the user requesting the tutoring session and the online contract that will be signed by the respective stakeholders.

05.08 Justification

05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?

The main competitors of advanced homeschool in Ghana are blossomingkidsgh and hometutorsgh. These are the only two competitors in Ghana who have taken a technological approach to connecting homeschoolers to tutors in Ghana. However, they function as websites and none of the two have developed a web application. The Advanced Homeschool App stands out and above first by being a web app and second, its hospitality policy. This policy which would be implemented in features of the application would help the parents choose the how they would be hospitable to the tutor. The feature will enable the parent decide either to offer a meal or snack as an incentive for excellent tutoring services.
