Describe your project or startup in a few words
Implementing advanced freezing technology at Batsah Farms to store and preserve mangoes, ensuring year-round availability to reducing waste.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Project Mango Freeze aims to revolutionize mango storage at Batsah Farms by implementing advanced freezing technology to preserve mangoes and ensure year-round availability. Located in Somanya, Eastern Region, Ghana, Batsah Farms specializes in premium Keitt and Kent salon mango varieties. We will acquire commercial and blast freezers, set up a dedicated preparation and storage area, and develop standardized freezing protocols. By freezing mangoes during the peak season, we can minimize waste, maintain quality, and meet market demand during the off and minor season. This project will also support local farmers by providing access to freezing facilities and training on proper handling and hygiene practices. With frozen mangoes, we aim to explore new markets, contributing to the farm's growth and local economic development. Project Mango Freeze will enhance market presence, ensure continuous revenue, and empower the farming community.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The main problem Project Mango Freeze aims to solve is the seasonal scarcity of mangoes and the resulting economic challenges for farmers. During the peak season, there is an oversupply of mangoes, leading to waste and reduced prices, while in the off-season , mangoes become scarce, driving up prices and leaving market demand unmet. This imbalance causes significant financial losses and instability for farmers. Project Mango Freeze will implement advanced freezing technology to preserve mangoes during the peak season, ensuring their availability year-round. By providing a solution to store excess mangoes, the project will reduce waste, stabilize prices, and meet off-season demand. Additionally, local farmers will gain access to freezing facilities and training, promoting community-wide benefits. This approach will enhance profitability, market presence, and sustainability for Batsah Farms and the entire farming community in the Somanya region.
