Describe your project or startup in a few words
Lorbar is dedicated to addressing the global food waste crisis by offering waste management services to schools and food production companies. The food waste is recycled into very affordable organic products to aid small and local farmers.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Lorbar Eco Solutions champions sustainable waste management, particularly in high schools and food production companies (like restaurants) and produces affordable recycled organic products for agriculture. This initiative aims to enhance agricultural practices for local and urban farmers while conserving the environment. Its innovative 'Recycle as it flows' strategy accelerates production by collaborating with schools and food businesses to ensure waste segregation at the source, eliminating the labor-intensive, energy and time-consuming sorting process. This approach not only speeds up production but also addresses potential issues related to waste accumulation, such as odors and pests. Additionally, other segregated waste materials such as plastic and metals are traded with specialized companies, further supporting the recycling system. The organic products will be advertised through digital and traditional media, retailed out to farmers at an affordable and fixed nationwide price.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Lorbar Eco Solutions aims to provide a reliable waste management system, particularly for high schools, which often rely on internal dump sites and landfills for waste disposal due to the sheer quantity of the waste generated on a daily basis. The dump sites pose significant health hazards to resident students and teachers and also poses a significant risk to the environment through carbon gas and methane emission. By implementing proper waste segregation and collection, we seek to totally eliminate these hazards. With same methods, it also aims to provide an affordable waste management system for restaurants. Lorbar also aims to support local and small-scale urban farmers by offering the most affordable animal feed and organic fertilizers hence, reducing their unwilling dependence on chemical fertilizers and expensive feed. Generally, Lorbar aims to provide solutions to food waste by converting them into innovative products.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
-Eliminating internal dumping sites in schools significantly reduces exposure to harmful waste, protecting students and teachers from potential health risks. -Implementing effective waste segregation and recycling practices reduces landfill use, lowers greenhouse gas emissions, and minimizes environmental pollution. -Providing affordable organic fertilizers and animal feed helps local and small-scale urban farmers reduce their farming costs, enhancing their profitability and sustainability. -Our commitment to innovation and adopting new technologies to improve waste management and recycling processes to process complex organic waste example: coconut and palm waste.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
The project serves senior high schools and food production companies (restaurants, grocery shops, hotels etc) as well as Local farmers. While providing a solution to waste accumulation in these institutions, we also serve local farmers with affordable organic fertilizers and feeds. The project also aims to serve the general community by organizing general clean up exercises, dump site clearance and education for the general public about the ways to efficiently manage their household waste rather than burn or improperly disposing them off.

05.08 Justification
Not answered05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?
My main competitors are large scale compost production companies. However, there is still a significantly huge demand for not just compost but affordable and effective compost. These companies mostly take their raw materials from the landfills, taking days or even weeks to sort it out by their type of waste (plastic, scrap metal, organic) before it can be processed. Lorbar Eco `Solutions stands out by collecting waste already segregated in the schools and the other companies which doesn't only benefit them but also saves the company time and money which would have been allocated for sorting. This reduces production cost in general hence, positively affects the price of the product, therefore satisfying the demand for very affordable animal feed and compost for many farmers. The products we aim to create will go through series of lab and field testing/experiments and adjustments to make sure that every batch produced is in the best quality and satisfy a specific need.
