Describe your project or startup in a few words
We utilize biogas to generate electricity.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
We are going to use biogas to make electricity which would then be use to power irrigation agro processing for rural farmers. This electricity is then used to power irrigation systems. By utilizing agricultural waste, Energon Technology addresses waste management issues and provides a sustainable and renewable energy source. This initiative supports rural development, enhances agricultural productivity, and promotes environmental sustainability.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The main problem that Biotricity is addressing revolves around the sustainable and reliable supply of electricity in rural areas of Ghana, particularly for agricultural activities and community development. In many rural regions, access to electricity is limited or unreliable, which hampers agricultural productivity, access to healthcare and education, and overall economic development. Traditional energy sources like fossil fuels are often expensive and contribute to environmental degradation. Biotricity addresses this challenge by converting biomass from agricultural waste into electricity. This approach not only provides a renewable and sustainable energy source but also helps in managing agricultural waste effectively, reducing environmental pollution. By powering irrigation systems and agroprocessing facilities, Biotricity aims to enhance agricultural productivity and food security, support local businesses.

05.08 Justification
Biotricity is innovative in its approach to addressing both energy and agricultural challenges in rural Ghana by leveraging agricultural waste to generate electricity. Traditional energy solutions in these regions often rely on costly and environmentally damaging fossil fuels. Biotricity, however, transforms agricultural waste—often an underutilized resource—into a valuable source of clean, renewable energy. This not only reduces waste and greenhouse gas emissions but also provides a sustainable and reliable power supply. The electricity generated powers irrigation systems and agroprocessing units, significantly enhancing agricultural productivity and efficiency. By creating a closed-loop system where waste products fuel agricultural advancement, Biotricity exemplifies circular economy principles, promoting resource efficiency and sustainability. Moreover, Biotricity stands out through its community-centric business model, which focuses on local job creation and skill development.
05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?
Communities with developed electricity infrastructure could rely mainly on the power distribution company.
10.06 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?
Our initiative makes it possible for local female farmers to add value to their agricultural produce. Biotricity promotes the role of female entrepreneurs in the local community through a multi-faceted approach that includes inclusive employment opportunities, training and skill development, support for female-led businesses, community engagement and advocacy, and access to financial resources. Biotricity actively hires women for various roles, providing stable income and valuable skills. This approach breaks down gender barriers and encourages women to participate in the traditionally male-dominated energy and agricultural sectors. Biotricity offers specialized training programs for women, focusing on technical skills related to energy production and agricultural practices.
