01.01 Describe your project in more detail

schoolman is an all-in-one platform for managing schools, designed from the ground up to be the ultimate solution to the needs of any school/institution. Built by someone who was and is a Student, an Assistant Administrator, and a Teacher (hopefully a Parent any time soon) and prefers working smart to working hard.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

Eliminate all the manual work. We all need help sometimes. schoolman was designed to be a personal assistant to teachers, students, school owners/heads and other 3rd parties such as government agencies/authorities. Offload and automate all the manual repetitive/monotonous/tedious work with schoolman, save time and use the time to focus on things that matter. schoolman will be your accountant, bookkeeper, registrar, study partner/coach, lesson planner, time manager, records-keeper, examiner, inspector, regulatory enforcer, etc. schoolman does not replace humans, it only boosts their productivity. Existing solutions are mostly glorified spreadsheets, which are great for collecting data. The best ones are usually foreign-made, and they do leave a hole in the pocket. They are passive (you must remember to put the data in there). schoolman prompts you to take action and follows up on you when you don't. schoolman surfaces insights into your data and helps you to make data-driven decisions.

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).

schoolman is sadly not a dictator. It does not dictate how you should structure your school. Flexible to the core, schoolman has no concept of students, teachers, parents, classes, departments, sections, batches, school fees, timetables, exercises, or homework. Call them anyhow you want. No need to memory-map how you refer to these rigid names as used in other systems. And who says schoolman is limited to only schools? schoolman is a DIY solution, giving you all the tools you need to run your school just the way you want to. schoolman can act both as an annoying boss as well as a helpful secretary/assistant. Trust me when I tell you that you don't want to be former side. With schoolman, you own your data. You can bring in your database and schoolman will happily use it. Should you want to leave (which we hope never happens), you can leave with the same ease as you entered along with all your data, with no vendor lock-in.

01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

schoolman was primarily designed to be used in schools by: School Heads, Teachers, Students, Parents and Governmental Agencies/Authorities. Students and teachers can use certain features even if their school is not onboard. But due to its flexible nature, it can also be used in churches, mosques, social clubs and generally any organization for managing people, and events and for keeping track of cash flow(incomes and expenses).

05.08 Justification

schoolman takes a different approach to school management. It is designed to be more of a personal assistant instead of being a glorified spreadsheet application with a price tag.

05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?

Excel + Copilot for Microsoft 365. All respect to the king: spreadsheets are great for recording and analyzing data, but it was designed to be mutable. This means that data entered previously can be changed with ease. While this can be a strength, it can also be a shortcoming where auditing and accountability is required. Why and when was this value changed? Spreadsheets can not answer. schoolman was designed to be immutable. Built using proven concepts like event-souring. This is the secret power of schoolman. It is essentially a Time Traveling Machine. You can go back to the past, replay events and create alternate timelines. Using events, you can make several projections from your data. schoolman is not an AI. It does not collect any data from you, neither uses your data to train or improve the system. You own your data and we respect your privacy unlike the big techs and there is no vendor lock-in and its cost is almost insignificant compared to the productivity gains.
