Drain Safe project involves a nationwide installation of trash capture systems to curb flooding and promote environmental sustainability. These systems, tailored to fit specific drainage systems, utilize advanced technology to trap and contain waste. The strategy includes assessment, installation, maintenance, and waste management. Benefits include flood risk reduction, environmental preservation, cost savings, and community engagement. Collaboration with the Ministry of Sanitation is sought. The budget covers materials, installation, maintenance, and waste disposal, making it an attractive investment opportunity for environmental resilience.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

The project addresses the widespread issue of flooding caused by clogged drainages due to excessive rubbish accumulation. This leads to environmental degradation, public health risks, and infrastructure damage. By installing trash capture systems, it aims to prevent blockages, reduce flooding, and enhance environmental sustainability. Additionally, the project mitigates ocean pollution from trash in rivers, preserves aquatic ecosystems and marine life, promotes responsible waste management, and alleviates burden on landfills, thereby reducing environmental pollution.

Businesses: Reduced flood damage to infrastructure and property leads to cost savings and improved business continuity. Local Authorities: Municipalities benefit from reduced maintenance costs, improved drainage system efficiency, and enhanced environmental stewardship. The project idea is unique and innovative because it addresses a pressing need in a novel way. While similar products may exist in other regions, the proposed solution is tailored specifically to the context of Ghana, where flooding due to clogged drainages poses a significant challenge. The envisioned product/service represents a new technology in the Ghanaian context, as it introduces advanced trash capture systems designed to effectively manage waste in drainages. Unlike existing solutions, which may not adequately meet the needs of local communities, this project responds directly to the demand for improved sanitation and flood prevention measures. By leveraging innovative technology and adapting it to local conditions, the project aims to fill a crucial gap in the market, offering a solution that is both effective and contextually relevant.

Our waste management enterprise offers a unique solution: trash capture systems to address drainage blockages and flooding in Ghana. While other agencies provide traditional services, our innovative approach stands out. Leveraging advanced technology tailored to local needs, we aim to mitigate flooding risks, protect the environment, and engage communities. This uniqueness gives us a competitive edge in the market, appealing to stakeholders seeking effective and sustainable solutions.

10.06 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?

Involving female entrepreneurs in the waste management project fosters gender equality by offering entrepreneurial opportunities, skills development, leadership roles, community engagement, and economic empowerment. By actively supporting and empowering women, the project promotes inclusivity and contributes to broader societal goals of gender equality and women's empowerment. One of my partners owns a cleaning company and this goes a long way to promote her skill as she provides advice and expertise.
