Waste to energy_
Describe your project or startup in a few words
The waste to energy project is aimed at promoting sanitation and also solve the issue of power outages in Ghana. The main aim is to collect waste and change it to energy
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Waste-to-energy is the process of generating energy in the form of electricity or heat from the primary treatment of waste. There are several methods to achieve this transformation, including: 1. Incineration: Process: Combustion of organic material and waste. Output: Generates heat, which can be used to produce steam and drive turbines to generate electricity. Benefits: Reduces the volume of waste by up to 90%, generates significant amounts of energy. 2. Anaerobic Digestion: -Process: Biological treatment using microorganisms in the absence of oxygen to break down organic matter. Output: Produces biogas (mainly methane and carbon dioxide), which can be used as a fuel for heating, electricity generation, or as a vehicle fuel. Benefits: Produces nutrient-rich digestate that can be used as a fertilizer, reduces greenhouse gas emissions from waste. 3. Landfill Gas Recovery: Process: Collection of methane gas generated from the anaerobic decomposition of organic waste
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
