CocoaTea – is produced by MORERI PLC Cocoa Tea is a healthy beverage made from cocoa beans to serve as an amazing drink to Cocoa and tea lovers. It is the first of its kind in Cameroon which will give additional value to the farmers & consumers.

01.01 Describe your startup in more detail

Moreri Plc as a food and beverage startup located in Buea with a sub office in Douala. Coming to life in March 2023 with lots of background testing back in 2019 that started with a research on plantain and other ways it could be processed for different consumption. The guardian of the founder was diagnosed with diabetes and had to consume more of unripe plantain. He then sorted out different ways she could consume same. Growing in farming as a child also played a solid role. Plantain became a special interest as it is one of the most widely farm produce with a huge market and consumption. Since then, Moreri has been working on other products from Cassava, Maize, and Cocoa.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

- Reduce organic waste by using the whole plant for the production of different products. - Create employment through skills, sales, investment, and marketing avenues for different people as we penetrate different markets in Cameroon, Africa, and the world at large. - Boost the agricultural sector through innovative and new techniques in food processing and production which empowers both farmers and consumers. - Provide a market to local farmers

Cocoa is rich in many very important nutrients that promotes healthy living. Consuming Cocoa Tea will but not limited to benefits; • - Magnesium; aids in bone health, decreased risk of Type 2 Diabetes, helps with muscle and nerve function, lower blood pressure, mitigates migraines and may reduce depression and anxiety. A cup before bed can work wonders as it doesn’t just warm you inside out, it also makes you euphoric and calm. • - Iron; Helps in proper function of hemoglobin, increased energy and focus • - Zinc; aids with immune system and metabolism functions, prevents macular degeneration, activates T-cells. • - Vitamin C; Helps with immune system, can lower blood pressure, lower risk of heart disease, aids in memory. • - Vitamin E; a powerful antioxidant preventing cells from damage, moisturizes skin, promote wound healing, reduces eczema and psoriasis, prevents fine lines (stretch marks) and wrinkles, and promotes nail health. In Cameroon, we have cocoa in different forms except in tea. We have developed a completely new product that falls in a certain category for teas and beverages but new in the market.
