Describe your project or startup in a few words
An app that enables users to save money in a disciplined manner towards life goals, such as purchasing a laptop, or car, or paying rent. By evaluating users' savings records, we verify their ability to repay small business loans and offer them loans.
01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
Our startup is a fintech company focused on addressing the credit gap faced by over 51% of MSMEs in Sub-Saharan Africa. We have developed a free app that enables users to save money in a disciplined manner towards life goals, such as purchasing a laptop, or car, or paying rent. By evaluating users' savings records, we verify their ability to repay small business loans, which we offer them with a monthly interest rate for repayment. We have helped over 25,000 customers save over 3 billion francs CFA towards financial goals they want to accomplish. Customers have created over 40,000 saving goals on our app and have achieved 30,000 of them. We have trained over 6,000 university students, women, and youths on personal finance
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
In Africa, MSMEs provide an estimated 80% of jobs across the continent, representing an important driver of economic growth. Sub-Saharan Africa alone has over 50 million micro, small, and medium enterprises, almost all of which are micro. For these businesses to grow, create more jobs, and generate economic growth, they need access to capital. However, 51% of these vital businesses, require more funding than they can currently access. Credit constraints are a serious challenge for them. Without reliable sources of working capital, MSMEs are unable to make investments needed for growth, leading to stagnation. Given the importance of MSMEs as a source of employment, barriers to accessing financing become barriers to poverty reduction and economic growth. Principally this problem is accounted for by lack of formal money records to evaluate repayment potential, lack of collateral and informal nature.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).

Increased Access to Credit: Our solution provides an opportunity for MSMEs to access credit based on their savings behavior even without bank accounts, enabling them to secure loans for business expansion or working capital. 2.
