01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
HappyMe Health is not just a company; it's a mission-driven venture committed to creating awareness about chronic illnesses and its management. Through education and outreach programs, Sally Njoh and her team aim to inform communities about the importance of early diagnosis and adopting a healthy lifestyle. By addressing the common struggles faced by individuals with illnesses, HappyMe Health contributes to reducing undiagnosed cases, particularly in underserved areas. HappyMe Health actively promotes early detection by providing free screenings in underserved communities with associati. By identifying chronic conditions early on, the organization seeks to make a meaningful impact on reducing the prevalence of undiagnosed diabetes and hypertension. This initiative not only benefits individuals but also contributes to the overall well-being of the communities served. HappyMe Health, under Sally's leadership, becomes a beacon of hope and inspiration in the health and wellness industry.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
We realized that after diagnosis, patients find it difficult adjusting to new lifestyles often recommended by doctors, they result to eating tasteless meals and practicing a sedentary lifestyle. They are completely shocked by the news and want immediate cures that are never forth coming, they start spending a lot of money on drugs but unfortunately majority maintain the same eating habits due to lack of healthy alternatives and pollution of our local markets with fertilized and processed products. They feel trapped because they are trying to do Soo much but always having limited results. They rarely socialize or engage in physical activities, most diagnosed patients even tell us chronic illnesses is like them paying for a crime they can't recur committing. At HappyMe Health, we work on the state of mind and encourage all diagnosed patients to be rest assured that, a healthy lifestyle improvement is all they need to heal faster, feel better and go about their normal activities stressfre
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).
HappyMe Health is crafting healthy alternatives to replace the unhealthy options we have all around us. Though all our products are locally sourced but we have put mechanisms in place to make sure all the supplies are farming organically. We market well packaged organic products like honey, tiger nuts, tumeric, ginseng, moringa, fruit juice, salads and herbal teas to boost immune health and greatly broke down carbohydrates and reduce sugar in blood. We also plan to have a mobile application, to help with cooking video tutorials, making juice and how to eat healthy with the family. We move from one community to another creating awareness, carrying out diagnosis in a bit to prevent more and more people from getting sick. Chronic illnesses are long term and can take years to find out you are actually sick. Our busy schedules make us miss all the warning signs are system will be giving. The reason HappyMe is empowering people to prevent and or manage these illnesses using nutrition etc ...
01.04 Please describe who exactly your startup’s product/service is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
We are currently experiencing a global shift from communicable diseases to non communicable diseases. These chronic illnesses are life threatening and account for ~ 41% of death globally. In Subsaharan Africa, 30 million people are diagnosed with one or more chronic illnesses especially diabetes according to WHO statistics. A whooping 9.7 million of that diagnosed population is found in Cameroon. WHO statistics also shows 80% of the population in Cameroon and subsaharan Africa as a whole walk freely without knowing their status. Our focus for now is mostly management, so we target people diagnosed with diabetes, hypertension, Obesity and we believe these trio are gate way to all other chronic illnesses. We are also prevention focus, we target families and Youths to promote healthy choices 80/20% of the time. Africa is naturally blessed with some of the best organically healthy products but people don't understand or are not aware of their nutritional benefit and hence minimize effects.
