01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
Data Girl Tech is an EdTech startup fostering the next generation of female tech talents across Africa. Our vision is to create an inclusive tech ecosystem where women and girls can thrive. We do this through our comprehensive programs and resources tailored to equip these women and girls with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in the tech ecosystem. Our community-driven approach fosters collaboration, mentorship, and innovation, creating a supportive environment where they can excel and make meaningful contributions to the world of technology. With a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and excellence, Data Girl Tech stands at the forefront of the movement to close the gender gap in tech and shape a more equitable and vibrant tech ecosystem.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The main problem we are addressing is the significant lack of access to STEM education for young women and girls in underserved rural communities in the Southwest region of Cameroon. These areas are heavily impacted by socio-political crises, resulting in disrupted educational infrastructure and limited opportunities for quality education. Systemic barriers and cultural norms further discourage female participation in STEM fields, perpetuating gender disparities and limiting the potential of young women. Without intervention, these young women are deprived of the skills and knowledge needed to compete in the digital economy, which exacerbates socio-economic inequalities and hampers regional development.By providing free and accessible STEM resources, workshops, and mentorship programs, our project aims to bridge this educational gap, empower young women, and foster a more inclusive and diverse future in STEM, ultimately contributing to the socio-economic upliftment of these communities
