Describe your project or startup in a few words
At Yanai Health, we believe true healthcare is proactive. We're championing continuous preventative care, equipping seniors with tools and support to manage chronic conditions. Our focus on early detection and intervention leads to better health outcomes
01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
Yanai Health is a young, innovative startup revolutionizing senior healthcare in Africa. Our ASPIRE model prioritizes accessibility, sustainability, personalized care, integrated services, and ethical practices: Accessibility: We bridge the gap through a user-friendly app, trained Community Health Workers (CHWs), affordable Point-of-Care devices, and discounted medications. Sustainability: Subscription plans, local partnerships, and CHW training programs ensure long-term, low infrastructure, highly scalable and cost-effective care delivery. Personalized Care: Data-driven care plans and AI analytics optimize interventions and address individual needs. Integrated Services: A unified platform, comprehensive care plans, and collaborative networks create a seamless patient experience. Research & Ethics: Data analysis, patient feedback, and transparent communication guide service improvements and ensure equitable access.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Yanai Health tackles critical healthcare challenges faced by Africa's growing senior population, particularly those with chronic illnesses. Limited Preventative Care: Traditional models often prioritize reactive treatment, leaving low-income seniors vulnerable. ASPIRE bridges this gap by utilizing Community Health Workers (CHWs) and affordable Point-of-Care devices to deliver basic screenings and education directly to communities. Digital Divide: Tech advancements in healthcare can be inaccessible to the elderly and those in poverty. ASPIRE's "tech with a human touch" approach equips CHWs to guide app usage, ensuring everyone benefits from preventative care. Financial Burden: Rising NCD treatment costs strain families. ASPIRE's tiered subscription model and partnerships with local pharmacies for discounted medications make preventative care more affordable. Fragmented Care: Traditional systems lack coordinated care plans. ASPIRE's unified platform streamlines chronic care
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).
By addressing the challenges of limited access, affordability, and fragmented care, ASPIRE aims to achieve the following social impact: • Improved Health Outcomes: Early detection and preventative care can significantly improve health outcomes for seniors and individuals with NCDs. This translates to a reduction in NCD burden and a healthier population. • Reduced Healthcare Costs: Early intervention prevents complications and the need for expensive treatments, leading to reduced economic strain on individuals and healthcare systems. • Empowerment and Education: The project empowers communities through education, self-management skills, and access to CHWs. This fosters a culture of preventative healthcare and informed decision-making. • Increased Access to Care: By utilizing CHWs and affordable technology, ASPIRE bridges the digital divide and makes preventative care accessible to underserved communities. • Sustainable Healthcare Ecosystem
01.04 Please describe who exactly your startup’s product/service is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
Yanai Health's ASPIRE model directly targets two critical demographics in Africa: The Growing Elderly Population: Africa faces a rapidly aging population. In Zimbabwe alone, over 6% of the population is already 65 or older, a number projected to rise significantly. Many of these seniors face increased risk of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). Individuals with Chronic NCDs: NCDs like diabetes and hypertension are a growing burden in Africa. Studies suggest a prevalence of diabetes mellitus at 5.7% and hypertension at 30% in Zimbabwe. These individuals often lack access to affordable preventative care.

In Africa, healthcare often means waiting until illness strikes, potentially leading to long-term complications. Yanai Health is changing this narrative. We understand that traditional reactive healthcare can be limiting. Our ASPIRE model draws inspiration from successful preventative care models in the West. By focusing on continuous care when you're feeling well, we aim to prevent illness and empower individuals to take charge of their health. This approach is new to many in Africa, both patients and healthcare systems themselves. Yanai Health is proud to be a pioneer, bringing preventative care to the forefront and transforming healthcare for the future
06.09 Competitive Analysis
Traditional Clinic Model: These clinics might lack the focus on preventative care and chronic disease management that Yanai Health offers. Telemedicine Startups: While competitors might offer remote consultations, Yanai Health goes beyond that with in-person visits by community health workers and a focus on underserved populations. NGO Healthcare Initiatives: NGOs might offer some overlap in services, but Yanai Health's emphasis on continuous care, client education, and partnerships sets it apart. Yanai Health's competitive edge likely lies in its combination of factors: Preventative Care Focus: Prioritizing early intervention and disease management. Accessibility: Reaching underserved populations through various channels (mobile app, SMS education, community workers). Client Education: Empowering individuals to manage their health. Partnerships: Collaborating with NGOs, governments, and others to maximize impact.
