Describe your project or startup in a few words
B2B used vehicle marketplace, powered by online auctions and price prediction. Connecting fleet owners with the largest national network of buyers.
01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
Hasta is a whole ecosystem of innovative solutions to improve used vehicle transactions. As a first step, we built a B2B auction marketplace helping companies with fleets sell to car dealers - a sort of digital "semsar" for companies. Using the transactions and data from our liquidity machine allows us to build the market's first condition-specific appraisal tool. Further growth will position us to create value for buyers/sellers in the B2C and C2C spaces, and for other types of vehicles.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The used vehicle market in Morocco and most of Africa remains informal and unpredictable. There is no strong consensus on determining a vehicles value by its condition. 90%+ of transactions are informal, and due to the efforts of informal middlemen even the government has little visibility on this sector. Buyers and sellers experience a lot of uncertainty and, sometimes, danger.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).
Sellers get liquidity: a one stop shop to dispose of used inventory quickly, easily and at a fair price. Buyers get better sourcing: access to a wide and recurrent selection of pre-inspected vehicles. Both get full transparency, for the first time.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your startup’s product/service is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
Buyers - Primarily car dealers and wholesalers, but also other corporations and individuals. Current buyers range from large dealerships to individuals who flip cars for profit on the side. Sellers - Rental, transportation, distribution and other large corporations, as well as financial institutions and individuals. Current sellers include Hertz, Agentis, Maroc Express, La Continentale and many small rental companies.

Bringing transparency and helping structure the currently informal and opaque used vehicle market. Using technology to enable transactions that perviously were not possible (for example, we've had a user buy a vehicle from a different city completely online and solely on the basis of our inspection report).

Individuals have been using peer to peer classified websites (like Avito or Facebook marketplace) to buy or sell vehicles. Having to meet through these platforms has put people in dangerous situations and has led to people being robbed and worse. By replacing questionnable middlemen, Hasta offers a much better user experience and complete safety.

We are the first and only used vehicle auction marketplace on the moroccan market.
06.09 Competitive Analysis
Most sellers don't use any service, in which cases we are not competing with anyone. They sell directly, except they usually reach out to 5-10 while we have a network of 1000 + guaranteeing a better offer. Their interface, the dealers, want to lower the price, while having Hasta as a middleman ensures fair value is reached. Some sellers use Avito or Facebook marketplace. The process takes days of discussions with many people, who mostly won't be serious. Then, paperwork can be a lengthy process. By contrast, Hasta will pick-up their car(s) and bring them a check within a week. Buyers currently buy from many different sources, but in every case (except a few limited cars on the market) they won't get a full picture of it's condition.
