Cas-Tech Glue Ltd harness cassava byproduct(peels and starch) and process it into bio degradable adhesives

01.01 Describe your startup in more detail

Cas-Tech Glue Ltd is a startup in the western region of Ghana situated in Beposo Nkran in the Shama district. We are a company that harnesses cassava byproduct to produce adhesive for the wallpaper and the wood industry. We source this waste from small holder farmers in various communities as these waste create environmental nuisance which breeds mosquitos, emits smoke during burning of the peels which affect children and pregnant women. This brought about this innovative solution to increase farmers potential to additional income as well as reduce the importation of adhesive in Ghana.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

Ghana imports USD 12million worth of glue annually according to Trade economics meanwhile cassava

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).

The product is a multi purpose product which saves cost by avoiding customers to buy two different adhesives for different works. It also saves time in terms of convinience having to look for different products and also it makes wallpaper installers work faster and finally it is easier to handle due to its powdered nature allowing customers to carry around without worry. It is also reusable when left uncovered for the next three days unlike other glues which dries up and spoils.

We are sourcing our raw materials from small holder farmers to increase revenue by 23.3% which create employment in these communities where young women and men pick waste to sell to acquire income. We are also providing ready market for which increases the production of gari in various communities as well

06.08 Justification for my startup

Adhesive are currently in the market however the type of raw materials being used by our company is different which make its production new. We have a need we are solving which is the multi purpose and fast drying time property coupled with high cost of impeterd ones

Our competitors are Woodchem, Scolio glue and these products are used for specific purposes however our product is a multi purpose product which saves cost, saves time in terms of looking for two products and quick drying time
