Black soldier fly (BSF) farming is a sustainable and profitable business model that focuses on breeding and harvesting black soldier fly larvae for various high-demand products. The larvae are an excellent source of protein and nutrients.

BSF farm requires specific infrastructure, including breeding chambers, larval rearing units, and waste processing areas. Efficient waste management systems are crucial.Breeding and Rearing: The business begins with the breeding of adult BSF. Eggs are collected and hatched into larvae, which are then fed organic waste materials. The larvae convert this waste into biomass efficiently.Feeding and Growth: The larvae are fed a diet of organic waste, such as food scraps, agricultural by-products, or manure. This not only reduces waste but also lowers feeding costs.Harvesting: Mature larvae are harvested, typically after 10-14 days. The process can be manual or automated, depending on the scale of the operation.Processing and Product Development: Harvested larvae are processed.
