The BPT Capacity Development 1.0 is a youth inclusive project under the Development For Plumbing and Engineering Skills that seeks to curb youth unemployment by training young graduates in plumbing.

01.01 Describe your startup in more detail

Development For Plumbing and Engineering Skills is a youth development startup which focuses on creating decent jobs under the plumbing frat, through the BPT Capacity Development 1.0, to train young people in plumbing and give them the right standing before going into the professional job market. We believe that technical training, when given much more attention especially the plumbing sector, will go a long way to attract the attention of the youth and help minimize social vices in Ghana and beyond.

Below are the challenges Development For Plumbing and Engineering Skills are addressing: 1. Youth Unemployement 2. Misconception of Technical Training 3. Perspective of plumbing as a non-attractive venture 4. Hunger due to joblessness

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).

With the approach of the BPT Capacity Development, we create more opportunities for beneficiaries to explore unlimited advantages or careers in the plumbing sector. It is available to both novices without knowledge of plumbing and professionals alike. My team and I believe that making the plumbing sector more attractive, will help us achieve our goal. Some of these benefits include intensive skill acquisition of beneficiaries to consider starting up their businesses, creating avenues for recruitment or jobs, the greed of simply considering white-collar jobs only will be minimized amongst the youth.

The BPT Capacity Development project targets young people between the ages of 18 to 35 years. Ideally, JHS and SHS graduates or Students from Technical schools.

Amandina Kuogoin is a Cameroonian with a 16 years expertise in plumbing. She has taught over 30 students in her country for the past 16 years before coming to Ghana. Amandina currently is self-employed and works in Ghana as a part-time plumber. She best fits a co-founder due to her drive for impact amongst young people.

Development For Plumbing and Engineering Skills projects the needs of the youth and therefore it is not a bias based avenue. Trainings are provided for both young men and ladies alike, to strengthen, empower young ladies also to take up challenging roles and change the status quo.

This is our major objective of the BPT Capacity Development, the initiative of Development For Plumbing and Engineering Skills. Sustainable Development Goal 8. In our quest to prevent social vices in Ghana, our approach is to keenly eradicate youth unemployment by creating avenues for jobs in the plumbing sector. When much effort is given in this regard, decent jobs will be created through the productivity of the youth and their standard of living will get better.

Our organization is not a school, it serves as a non-profit organization that creates impacts and thrives to make plumbing attractive.
