01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
Feed-Star is a for-profit entity located in Tamale, Ghana that was set-up in 2023 and focuses on the usage of Agri-waste, insect larvae and other sustainable materials to produce animal feed for poultry, fish, rabbits, cattle, and pigs. Feed-Star believes the world’s ability to eradicate absolute poverty and adapt to the effects of climate change is dependent on exploring sustainable ways of producing and affecting the economic activities of businesses thus the choice of repurposing corn cobs and domestic waste.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The most of Poultry Farmers struggle to manage and sustain their businesses despite the daily increased demand for the meat and egg products. The major problem that hinders poultry farmers from meeting such demands, and even surviving but includes. 1. High cost of chicken feeds, feed supplements, vitamins, minerals, and antibiotics 2. High cost of local poultry products. This is because of the traditional raw materials used (cereals, grains, and fish meal) which has seasonal availability (affected by climate change), leading to its high cost (feed forms 70-80% of production cost).

1. Probiotic content enhances bird and fish resistant to diseases and infections such as kidney and respiratory illnesses, coccidiosis, fowl pox and Newcastle, among others. 2. Enhance growth for both layers, broilers, and fish. 3. Enhances egg laying. 4. Improves digestion. 5. Contains fiber, protein, vitamins, and minerals. 6. Reduction cost of production by eliminating the purchase of supplements and antibiotics

As a team, we were finalists of the KIC Classic AgriTech Challenge 2023
