DODO PROJECT
Describe your project or startup in a few words
the DODO project aim to develop an mobile application to regulate and reduce young people's screen addiction.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Our future project involves developing and marketing an application called DODO, to be installed on devices to which children of a certain age have access, in order to regulate the amount of time they spend on screens over a 24-hour period. we aim to develop a mobile application that parents can install on the digital tools their children have access to, to apply a limit on the number of hours they need to spend on screens in 24 hours.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Around the world today, screen addiction affects almost 70% of young people aged between 16 and 30, and 48% of these young people develop several health-related problems over time. This phenomenon exploded and intensified between 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19, which brought the world and its activities to a standstill. To pass the time, the entire planet has had to turn to digital entertainment, which has not failed to leave its mark in the form of a health crisis. Increased screen addiction, sleep disorders, insomnia, depression, sedentary lifestyles and social isolation are the most common problems associated with this phenomenon. The main problem we are trying to solve is to help young people from age of 03 to 16 to manage better numeric tools by helping them to regain some autonomy , to instill healthy habits in them for becoming more fulfilled adults.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
With this mobile app, parents will be able to control their children's daily use of their phones, tablets and computers without any excesses. In fact, the application will be designed to make it impossible to access certain applications after the daily number of hours set by parents, as recommended by medical experts. it will also encourage children to take part in other activities considered more social, sociable and fun.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
The DODO project targets children aged between 03 and 10, and 11 and 16 in Africa, Europe and worldwide. The project will involve developing a mobile application for this age group that regulates the number of hours of access to applications and digital entertainment platforms on devices in 24 hours: (between 1H30 and 2H per day for 03 to 10-year old, and 03H per day for 11 to 16-year old) according to the recommendations of health experts. This is available for quarterly or annual subscriptions. The target devices are tablets, phones and computers.

There are many applications that regulate adult sleep, but also parental control software for children on the American market. On the European and African markets, however, there are few tips to combat screen addiction in children aged 0 to 16, which is why it's so important to find solutions. United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund has also entered the race to raise awareness of young people's addiction to screens via advertising campaigns aimed at adults on numerous platforms. From this we can deduce that this is a worldwide phenomenon that is still awaiting innovative solutions.
05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?
The main competitors are the mobile apps for children XOOLOO which is a french app and QUSTODIO which is a spanish app. They both offers parental control and screen management services. What distinguishes us from these two applications is first the origin of our project, that will work to take into account the African market and the specificities. With the exhibition of the Startupper of the year contest, we will put the effort to work with Non-profit Organization which share the same concern, to enter the European market and establish a sensibilation in order to win shares. we will also work to offer a monthly and annual subscription to compete with the market price of our competitors by positioning in the right middle.
