Agro-green sustainable chain is an initiative to combat climate change, food security, low house hold income ,illiteracy ,poverty ,environmental degradation, marketing, poor quality, domestic-gender based violence and high crime rates in Bunyoro region.

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

Agrogreen sustainable chain is an initiative to combat climate change through providing healthy certified horticultural, Cocoa and tree seedlings to created farmer groups in designated areas, the groups will be trained on group dynamics and savings to combat poverty, illiteracy and obtain saving culture for equality. solar lamps for farmer school going children horticulturals will fight food insecurity, weekly income and malnutrition, cocoa will be the main project crop of interest to increase house hold income fight poverty and the groups will be trained on centralized marketing to fight low prices, middle men, and have bargaining power. cocoa and tree seedlings will reduce environmental degradation, carbon emissions and generate income. the farmers will be trained on quality produce and post harvest handling, contract farming I look forward to source for international market and export all produce of the created groups ,have memorandum with the groups, and later adding crop value

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

The project intends to solve marketing challenges, where farmers in bunyoro sale individually and therefore ,they are cheated, sustaining poverty. the central marketing will create marketing power. the high crime rates and illiteracy is caused by poverty due to lack of financial support, and knowledge, training on finance illiteracy will be provided. poor quality produce with low yields leading to low income and also limit food at home ,this is a general problem to farmers who use recycled seed from generations and also failure to be assisted technically to attain the yield. Due to Tobacco farming, trees have been cut down and therefore there is climate change, cocoa and tree seedlings will be planted to combat the problem. Lack of market is a big challenge in Uganda, and yet Europe and America consumes a lot of cocoa and agricultural products, therefore ,market sourcing will be done, a memorandum between farmers and the company will be done, and with international reliable customers

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).

certified seedlings increased production, quality produce, food security, fights poverty and increase house hold income solar lamps and cocoa-tree seedlings planting fight climate change, environmental conservation and increase house hold income and fight poverty. centralized marketing groups increase bargaining power cutting off middle men. contract farming for producer groups gives surety of sustainable market and also reduces market losses. technical advises to farmers increase production and yield thus increase in house hold income and literacy in homes. saving and credit group literacy training will promote gender equality and reduces domestic violence. cocoa as a main crop, it conserves the environment, provides income to communities, fights climate change and increases house hold income, children attain school and a happy home is attained. the crop is a full package problem solver for communities. horticultural crops will provide a weekly income for farmers thus fighting poverty

01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

the project is aiming to serve: school going children in the communities, we target about 1500 children men and women aged between 18 years and 85 or above (the aged are neglected yet some are still relevant in our communities) we target 500 aged adults, the aged are described as age between 55years and above school drop out with access to land aged between 17 years to 25 years. we target school dropped out about 2500 people with disabilities and discriminated persons such as people living with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B widows and widowers we target 400, people with disabilities and 500 people living with HIV/AIDS OR Hepatitis B

she is called: Mrs. Kyokunzire Claire aged 30 years, farmer and business woman, married with 3 children. she is skilled in farming ,with over 10 years of practical farming ,especially export. she is a business woman operating a solar and electronic shop with vast knowledge in solar equipment's. she is the sole proprietor of her business and a role model to most young ladies Ms kabagenyi Adaline is a retired senior counsellor with over 30 years working experience working with children ,adults living with HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B, she has a good communication and counselling skill ,ability to group up the stigmatized people to have hope of another life.

the project will provide cocoa seedlings to created groups and these groups will be linked to reliable market ,the cocoa project will fight poverty and for generations, while horticultural crops such as hot peppers, chilies and sweat potatoes will be providing income on quarter basis and weekly basis to the farmers as they wait for the cocoa project attain maturity. cocoa tree can go for over 70 years still viable under good management. harvested weekly as a farmer acquires income the peppers, garden eggs and peanuts will be a source of food, income for farmers until a project of cocoa is attained. these can be grown in small plots for sustaining their survival. project or crop selection will base on farmer interest

in this project ,we have zero hunger farmers will be able to grow crops for their survival as well as some are sold off for their house hold income to buy any other food of balance. sweat potatoes ,peanuts, garden eggs, Irish potatoes are source of energy and with ready markets. they grow in less than 90 days and can go for more than 90 days when consumed on a calculated harvesting.

05.08 Justification

The project is anew mechanism of clearing all bottle necks in the production chain, the main challenge farmers face is marketing ,lack of a reliable market leading to poverty. all this is attained through providing certified inputs to combat counterfeit seeds,the project will directly deal wiith the farmer,therefore no middle men in the production chain,the farmers will be grouped to improve their bargaining power for better prices,training will be provided both financial and agronomic trainings to increase their household income and Yield respectively. all this is not currently done by the current exporters in the country, making most farmers fail to comply with international market, thus lower prices. middle men take 80% of the profit therefore farmers take low prices with much energy used. the farmer will be able to track his produce from the farm to customer through a sustainable production system. 05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?

the main competitors are the middle men, local aggregators and only profit oriented export companies. The project will provide trainings to farmers and also acquire a fair trade license to provide premium prices to the farmers. the farmers will be provided with market information and also track progress of each individual farmer for the individual benefit and household income improvement. the project will provide free tree and cocoa seedlings including the horticultural crops with free agronomic trainings for better yield, this is not done by any competitor

10.06 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?

yes, the company secretary is a female and is a senior business woman with over 10 years experience in entrepreneurship as a sole proprietor ,the councilor In-charge of counselling and guidance is an experienced business woman with over 30 years of hands on.
