Describe your project or startup in a few words
THE SURVEYOR intends to be a leading land surveying and geomatics firm dedicated to leveraging Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and satellite imagery to address critical issues and enhance service delivery in Uganda.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
THE SURVEYOR addresses key issues in Uganda using GIS and satellite imagery. Climate change adaptation and mitigation: - Problem: Increasing climate-related events. - Solution: GIS for monitoring environmental changes, predicting weather patterns, and managing resources to help communities prepare for and mitigate climate impacts. Optimizing service delivery: - Problem: Inefficient public service allocation. - Solution: Spatial analysis to optimize routes and schedules for utilities and waste collection, ensuring efficient and equitable service delivery. Improving public health: - Problem: Tracking disease outbreaks and resource allocation. - Solution: Mapping disease hotspots, analyzing health data, and planning healthcare infrastructure to enhance access and outcomes. Enhancing educational infrastructure: - Problem: Unequal access to educational facilities. - Solution: Identifying gaps, optimizing school locations, and ensuring equitable distribution.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
Service delivery Efficiency in education, health and even business. Climate action.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
THE SURVEYOR aims to benefit various stakeholders in Uganda: 1. Local Communities: Through climate change adaptation measures and improved service delivery, communities can better withstand environmental challenges and access essential services efficiently. 2. Government Agencies: By providing insights into public health, education, and transportation systems, government agencies can make informed decisions to allocate resources effectively and improve infrastructure. 3. Healthcare Sector: Mapping disease hotspots and optimizing healthcare infrastructure helps healthcare providers in targeting interventions and improving healthcare access for vulnerable populations. 4. Educational Institutions: Identifying gaps in educational infrastructure and optimizing school locations supports educational institutions in providing equal access to quality education for all students. 5. Transportation Sector: Analyzing traffic patterns and optimizing transport routes.

01.07 Among the other partners, how many are female?
2
01.08 Please describe the profile of each of the other partners (skills, experience, etc.)
They are equally experienced as me in leveraging GIS to solve spatial problems. They have done a diploma in mapping and cartography at Institute of Surveys and Mapping at Entebbe and we are all at Makerere University.
01.09 If you have a website, a social media page (Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin…), or app, please provide the link here:
01.10 Which industry best describes your project?
c) Industry (equipment, commercial, logistical and professional services, transport)
02.01.01 My project contributes to the No poverty goal
5
02.01.02 No poverty - Justification
This is due to the profits gotten as returns for the different services offered to the different stakeholders.
02.02.01 My project contributes to the Zero hunger goal
2
02.02.02 Zero hunger - Justification
Not answered02.03.01 My project contributes to the Good health and well-being goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.03.02 Good health and well-being - Justification
Through mapping health centers, studying the spatial patterns of how they are distributed, we can then know what place needs health services the most.
02.04.01 My project contributes to the Quality education goal
6
02.04.02 Quality education - Justification
This will be through training of students in schools and other universities about mapping and GIS and hence reducing in the digital divide.
02.05.01 My project contributes to the Gender equality goal
5
02.05.02 Gender equality - Justification
I look at bringing on more females on the team and also exercise equality in the operations of the firm with females having equal opportunities as males.
02.06.01 My project contributes to the Clean water and sanitation goal
3
02.06.02 Clean water and sanitation - Justification
This will be through enabling efficient access to water points like taps, boreholes etc
