Describe your project or startup in a few words
AKATABO is an online book-sharing library that allows its users to access physical books at affordable prices from other users. Users can list and borrow books while earning passive income and also access a wide range of books.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
AKATABO is online book sharing library that allows you to borrow a physical book from another user. Given that the cost of physical books is quite high in Uganda, not everyone has access to knowledge and literacy growth. AKATABO provides an affordable and efficient solution by enabling book lovers to share their favorite reads with each other. Users can list their books on the platform, earning passive income through our revenue-sharing model, while borrowers gain access to a wide variety of books at a fraction of the cost of new ones. This fosters a vibrant community of readers and promotes the circulation of books, including authentic Ugandan publications. AKATABO is more than a book-sharing service; it's a literacy movement. By increasing the availability of books, we aim to enhance literacy rates and support local authors and publishers. With a vision to scale globally, AKATABO aspires to transform book accessibility worldwide.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
We are solving limited access to physical books in Uganda due to their high cost. This problem limits the number of people who can access literature, especially those who cannot afford new books. By creating an easy-to-use online library, users are able to borrow academic and fiction books from each other, thus making books more accessible and affordable while fostering a vibrant community of readers. AKATABO aims to enhance literacy rates and contribute to Uganda’s educational and cultural development.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
1. Affordable Access: By borrowing books instead of buying new ones, users save money, making reading more affordable for everyone. 2. Income Generation: Book owners can earn passive income by listing their books on the platform, incentivizing participation. 3. 01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

They benefit from affordable access to a wide variety of books through borrowing. 2. Book Owners: Individuals with collections of books who wish to share their passion for reading and earn passive income by listing their books on the platform. 3.
