Describe your project or startup in a few words
A circular piggery project where local resources such as local & left-over foods, water weeds, black soldier fly larvae, saw dust are used with biogas production, and pig leather export incorporated creating a sustainable and resource-efficient system.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
1. Black Soldier Fly Larvae - Black soldier fly larvae are excellent bio converters. They can efficiently transform organic waste, including pig manure, into valuable biomass. - Nutrients (carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) from the pig manure are stored in the BSFL body mass 2. Water Weeds - Harvested water weeds can serve as feed for the pigs, reducing the need for external feed sources. 3. Biogas Production - The pig manure, along with Black soldier fly larvae frass, can be used to generate biogas through anaerobic digestion. - Anaerobic digesters break down organic matter in the manure, producing methane-rich biogas. - This biogas can be used for cooking, heating, or electricity generation on the farm. 4. Pig Manure - The manure got from the piggery can be used as fertilizers for plants 5. Pig Leather Export - The circular approach ensures that no waste is left unused. After the pigs are slaughtered, their hides can be processed into pig leather.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Limited source of income and waste management. This project diversifies income and is a steady source of generating income on top of providing food the community at the same time utilizing waste as manure for agriculture and generation of biogas.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
1. Source of income 2. Source of food for the population 3. source of employment to the local population such as caretakers and other professionals in the industry 4. Source of green energy(biogas)
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
The local population especially in the rural areas are the main beneficiaries and other unemployed population
01.05 When did you start working on your project?
2021-12-01
01.06 How many other partners are associated with your business venture?
1
01.07 Among the other partners, how many are female?
0
01.08 Please describe the profile of each of the other partners (skills, experience, etc.)
A civil engineer with 3 years of working experience
