Describe your project or startup in a few words
ReCr8 is a dynamic waste management and recycling company utilizing innovative approaches to implement revolutionary garbage collection practices to promote a clean and healthy environment.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
ReCr8 (ReCreate) is poised to implement at a robust scale practical primary garbage collection approaches that ease sorting and recycling of the disposed waste. Our unique approach is that we avail a garbage collection unit to a household and several to company premises. A unit has four compartments to cater for the most common forms of waste in our community today i.e Organic Waste, Metallic Waste, Plastic Waste and Paper Waste. Once this waste is sorted right from the point of disposal, it becomes even easier to collect and transport for recycling. This waste is then kept in the loop of reducing, reusing, and recycling to mitigate the impact of waste on the environment. The organic manure is taken to a landfill site where it is transformed into compost (organic manure). This manure will be distributed to large-scale and small scale farmers to improve soil health, enhance it nutrient content, and boost nutritional value of the crop yields.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The main problem we are solving is the gaping challenge of our endangered non-renewable resources and the hazards that mismanaged waste can have on the environment. Single-use plastic has posed a major threat to humans and animals. Research indicates that terrestrial microplastic pollution has led to the decrease of species that live below the surface, such as mites, larvae and other tiny creatures that maintain the fertility of the land. Additionally, the amount of trees being cut down to produce paper is astronomical. According to World Wild Life, about 33% - 40% of industrial wood traded globally is used to manufacture paper, a process that consumes more water and energy than is needed to make plastic. Food security has become a growing concern as the global population grows and we need to have enough food to feed the planet, Healthy well-cultivated farmlands are crucial in hedging the foodchain against food insecurity and the overall effects of climate change.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
Our customers will not have the burden of buying or establishing a garbage collection point which is usually a one large or medium size dumpster that collects all the rubbish without sorting. ReCr8 provides the unit while the customer pays a monthly subscription service fee. Our customers will contribute to the overarching goal of saving the planet from the depletion of its precious resources such as forests, water, healthy soil, clean air, aquatic life and life on land. Our customers will benefit from better crop yields as a result of deploying our compost as organic manure in their farmlands. Our customers will have access to BioGas, a clean energy resource.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
ReCr8 is looking to serve 1. House Holds 2. Schools 3. Universities 4. Companies 5. Government Ministries 6. Community Markets, 7. Cities (Street Corners and Strategic places) We shall expand our offering to various customers that deal with electronic waste and hazardous waste at scale
