YOUTH EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVE_
Describe your project or startup in a few words
We are anticipating a comprehensive training program aimed at equipping young people with practical skills in media, graphics, photo, videography, and website design and development. The training is aimed at empowering young people to become creative.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Skillset training and job placement programs will help young people typically between 15-40 years old develop the skills that are in demand by employers. They can also provide opportunities for young people to gain work experience and build professional networks. By connecting young people with potential employers, these programs increase the chances of successful job placement and retention. Skills training and job placement programs address some of the root causes of youth unemployment. They help to bridge the skills gap that exists between what employers need and what young people have to offer. They also address issues of discrimination and lack of access to opportunities that some young people face. The project proposes to train and create channels of employment for at least 1000 youth within Entebbe areas. And also, to develop them into a productive and empowered citizen.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Youth unemployment in Uganda remains a significant challenge, with a large portion of the population under 30 struggling to find work despite their qualifications, skills, and ambitions. This can lead to a lack of independence, financial instability, and a sense of hopelessness about the future. Factors contributing to this issue include a lack of skills due to rampant school dropouts and a mismatch between skills acquired and those demanded by the job market. High levels of informal employment and underemployment exacerbate the problem, leading to economic instability and social unrest. Efforts to address youth unemployment include initiatives to improve education and training, promote entrepreneurship, and attract investment to create job opportunities. Many young people lack access to quality education and vocational training opportunities, leading to gaps in critical skills needed for employment and entrepreneurship. Many are seldom recognized as a resource in decision-making.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
Efforts to resolve the situation include programs aimed at improving education and training, promoting entrepreneurship, and attracting investment to create job opportunities. Provides underprivileged youths with the skills and knowledge they need to recognize and utilize the resources around them for their holistic empowerment. Bridges the gap between the skills possessed by young people and the market demand for such skills, with a focus on entrepreneurship and innovation in industries that generate income.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
The project involves practical training targeting young people aged 15-40 in Entebbe who want to pursue their careers, comprising students, young professionals, or dropouts starting families. They are active on social media, interested in technology, and concerned about current events, enabling opportunities to develop skills, generate income, and remain connected. Understanding their interests helps tailor messages and products effectively. The program will provide mentorship and guidance to trainees as they start their businesses or seek employment opportunities, facilitate networking, and create opportunities for internships and job placement in these fields.

05.08 Justification
The fact that youth have seldom taken part in development programs due dropout of school and many have failed to get jobs due to lack of experience in life they end up failing even to govern their families. To help the youth in communities progress further and work alongside other different organizations which will further enhance their skills. Although many companies are in some line of business we face challenges with increased and varying responsibilities, I believe I have so much more to offer to the community. This challenge allows putting what they have learned to good use. Increases Social Engagement, because so much of the globe is now accessible via the internet, it is relatively simple to put access to a Range of Skills and Expertise close to young people.
05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?
Schools, youth are rarely recognized as a resource in decision-making processes and are often excluded from such processes, leading to policymaking without a youth perspective. Many youth organizations remain under-resourced and are ill-equipped to participate in development processes. Such a program will empower these young people to become productive and responsible citizens, furthering the continuing development of their communities. One of the things that make me stand out from other competitors is the fact that I will always go beyond and above what is expected of the project and so I always go out of my way to make training experiences memorable so they become successful entrepreneurs and I go out my way to help my co-workers to execute their duties directly, and i will always go out of my way and help my workers to train new members of staff as there has been a mismatch in skills as an attempt to build the partnership with them and ultimately improve relationship with them.
10.06 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?
Yes, In partnership with Gods Hand Youth Project led by Martin Isreal Ssebuguzi we have trained over 50 women in fashion and designing, crafts making, and many more. Also in partnership with Life Saver Missionaries have empowered women in the rearing of pigs at Buwaya Community in Entebbe through seminars and training skills to sustain their life.
