01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Green Periods empowers adolescent girls in rural communities by addressing menstrual hygiene and sustainability. The project trains girls to create eco-friendly, reusable sanitary pads from discarded polythene materials, transforming waste into a valuable resource. Through hands-on workshops, participants learn the skills needed to produce these sanitary pads, which provide a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution to menstrual hygiene while fostering a sense of self-reliance and entrepreneurship. The project addresses two key issues: menstrual hygiene management and plastic waste pollution. By reusing polythene materials, we reduce environmental pollution and promote sustainable practices within the community.
