A social enterprise that use local model for the production, distribution and delivery of organic fertilizers with training to farmers in Tanzania to increase productivity, farm income and promote sustainable agriculture.

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

Pamaja organic fertilizer, a social enterprise that use local model for the production, distribution and delivery of organic fertilizers with training to farmers in Tanzania to increase productivity, farm income and promote sustainable agriculture. We do based on 3 pillars: mini-factory technology to decentralize, manufacture and sell high yielding organic fertilizers, accessibility of fertilizers to farms in villages, training youth village agricultural extension officers and provide bundles that include the necessary agricultural inputs, technical skills, and hands-on farming service support. The youth village officer will be trained to provide hands-on support to the smallholder farmers, while the extension officers will target their technical services in the community. And Pamaja e-platform will facilitate bulk ordering, financial inclusion and communication with the smallholder farmers to ensure an ongoing needs. We produce both powder, pellets and granule forms of fertilizers.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

In Tanzania most of the poorest people are smallholder farmers, More than 70% of population depend on agriculture for their livelihood but under producing. In rural Tanzania, 75% of people living on $1 a day work in agriculture. The Country is highly dependent on subsistence agriculture while being very vulnerable to the effects of climate change. For instance, cereal crops grown in Tanzania average 1.2 tons per hectare, while the developing world average is about 3 tons/ha. This is because of the lack of access to efficient agricultural inputs includes fertilizers, best production practices whose application methods are mastered and financial inclusion, could have negative impacts on the populations and on food security, as well as lead to issues of low production, poverty and hunger. Increasing the productivity of African smallholder farms has potential to lift millions of people out of extreme poverty.

1. Pamaja organic fertilizer will allow farmers to easily export their product and gain better/premium prices 2. Pamaja organic fertilizers can increase crop yield: stimulate microbial activity and improve soil structure. 3. Also provide Soil healthy or fertility, it improving yields without compromising the environment 4. Its environmental friend and healthy plants, It has mineral sources that contain plant essential nutrients. 5. Improve lives, Pamaja improve lives of farmers through increase productivity and financial inclusion

Mr. Paschal Makoye James, possess 6 years combined experiences in project planning and management, enterprise development, business incubation and acceleration. Paschal holds Bachelor Degree , Certificate of Project Management and certificate of Computer software applications. Medadi Zenzelegwa possesses 3 years combined experience in financial management includes financial reports, monitoring accounts and preparing activity reports and financial forecasts. Medadi holds Bachelor in Banking and Finance. Ms. Ester Waindi, possesses 5 years combined experience in Agricultural operational management. includes crop production operations, such as planning, tilling, planting, fertilizing, cultivating, spraying, or harvesting. Ester holds Certificate in General Agriculture.

05.08 Justification

We use mini-factory technology to decentralize, manufacture and sell high yielding organic fertilizer for the transformation of waste into biofertilizers, provide accessibility of these fertilizers to farms in the villages, training youth village with agricultural extension services bundles include the necessary agricultural inputs, technical skills, and hands-on farming service support. The youth village officer will be trained to provide hands-on support to the smallholder farmers, while the extension officers will target their technical services in the community. Also our Pamaja e-platform will facilitate bulk ordering, financial inclusion and communication with the smallholder farmers to ensure an ongoing and efficient flow of information regarding their needs.

Our main competitors are GUAVAY COMPANY LIMITED, MINJIGU MINE, ABM EQUIPMENT, our competitive advantage are selling platform and inputs financing for farmers, provision of technical services for farmers through village youth, use of technology to decentralize technology in production lead to row price and wide product portfolio.
