01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Hyperlocal weather Monitoring is an AI solution that takes the context of each demand driver within each individual location to make accurate weather forecasting in the most granular level. Hyperlocal weather monitoring with artificial intelligence is crucial in order to improve the present technology on weather forecasting in order to provide a real time data on temperature, rainfall and humidity which will enable the farmers to make an informed decision on agriculture like irrigation, early crop plant and pesticide control in order to reduce the impacts of severe weather event. Tanzania agricultural sector is highly vulnerable to El Nino which has occured in this rainfall season leading to devastating flood, landslides, and crop failures, jeopardizing food security and livelihood. This project propose for groundbreaking weather monitoring system that leverage hyperlocal forecasting and mitigate severe weather event that directly affect agriculture negatively by using AI
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Recent El Nino event in Tanzania showcased the limitation of existing technology on weather forecasting. Despite Tanzania meteorological Authority issued early warning but the impact was too severe due to limited granularity of national forecasting which lacks more details to predict specific impacts on microclimate and local communities, challenge on reaching rural communities and lack of real time data on localized weather events. TMA have the challenges of sparse weather stations which forecast weather events in general but do not address the specific local area also with inaccurate forecast for specific local locations, incomplete picture of weather variation across tanzania and forecast represent large area missing hyperlocal factors. Hyperlocal weather monitoring with AI will provide more relevant informations and real time data, also will capture the data sources in a full range of microclimate and increased granularity allowing forecasting in local areas especially in rural.

Increased accuracy and granularity. Traditional weather stations have limited coverage especially in rural areas and geographically complex areas. By using Hyperlocal weather monitoring powered by AI can utilize various data source like satellite imagery, sensor data from weather stations and existing data which will provide more accurate pictures of weather conditions at specific locsl locations. Improved early warning systems. AI powered hyperlocal monitoring system will improve early warning system crucial for flood warning especially areas prone to rapid water level changes, detecting and prediction of formation of microclimates like hailstorms and providing real time advice for public safety during extreme weather event. Enhanced decision making. Hyperlocal weather monitoring with AI will empower individuals to make better decision based on real time weather condition. For example farmers make informed decision about irrigation and crop protection based on real-time data.

Individual users. Peoples in geographical complex areas like mountains and valley where traditional weather stations might not provide accurate forecast for specific local areas. Business and organizations. Like construction companies, utility companies and farmers can utilize these real time data of weather conditions and make decisions in their operations. Public agency services. Agencies can use these real time data to advice the public safety during extreme weather event and target warning to specific areas

Hyperlocal weather monitoring involve the use of AI powered technology to monitor weather and reduce climate change impacts. AI powered weather monitoring will help to to forecast weather in a small local area. The AI powered model will be trained on historical data and real time data from stations forecast that accounts for microclimate and local weather patterns with high accurate predictions. The product that envisioning will replace and improve the old technology in weather forecast which provide a general prediction of weather to large area but Hyperlocal weather monitoring with AI powered will help to improve weather forecasting in order to provide an accurate data of weather in order to reduce the effects of severe climate change incidence like flood and crop failures.

The main competitor is Tanzania meteorological authority which is an authority to forecast weather in Tanzania. With AI powered weather monitoring will replace the old technology with new AI technology to provide accurate data on weather in order to reduce the adverse impacts brought by severe climate change.
