HOSPITAB is a portable smart healthcare solution comprising of an smart tablet aimed to addressing blood bank/donors shortages and the difficulty of Healthcare access by people in resource constraint areas, especially ANC care by pregnant women.

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

HOSPITAB is a portable smart healthcare solution comprising of an android tablet aimed to addressing challenges of limited healthcare access by people of rural areas and conflict/disaster affected areas where healthcare infrastructures cannot be easily access. It is also aimed at addressing the frequent blood shortages in blood banks and the difficulty of getting blood donors. This system aims to revolutionize Healthcare services and the management of health records as it contains components that eases the entry, storage, analysis, and retrieving of medical records through a smart tablet. The system will also provide a digital patient card which will replace the traditional hospital book and will enhance patients' medical records retention. The system also provides a power box which provides a equipment-sterilization chamber and a solar backup power supply. All these make the system portable and will facilitate point-to-point healthcare services (point-of-care).

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

The difficulty of pregnant women in these rural areas to get Antenatal Care sessions due. to absence of nearby hospitals/clinics, with most health facilities found in the urban areas. The difficulty of accessing Healthcare especially by people of the rural areas. The difficulty of getting blood donors for emergency blood transfusion cases. The frequent shortages in hospital blood banks. The difficulty in the management of medical records. Ignorance of the public about their blood group and genotypes

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).

Enhance maternal and child healthcare: The system will boost the provision of ANC services to women of remote areas and/or conflict/disaster affected areas. Enhance patient care: The system enhances prompt and accurate diagnosis, helping healthcare providers make informed decisions and provide appropriate care to patients. With the system's ease of mobility, it'll make it easy for hospitals to easily extend daily/regular healthcare services to resource constraint areas lacking healthcare infrastructures. Boost blood banks: The system will facilitate the testing of blood groups and registration of potential blood donors. With this record, it'll be easy for the health sector to get to blood donors (through phone calls) for emergency cases or to refill the blood bank. Healthcare digitalization: With the system digitalized architecture, it'll facilitate the management of medical records both locally (offline) and remotely (online).

01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

The primary targets for this system are people, (especially pregnant women) of resource constraint areas, rural areas, and conflict/disaster affected areas where healthcare infrastructures are lacking or far fetched. The secondary target are healthcare institutions and the population at large as it'll ease rendering of Healthcare services, boost point-of-care services and limit death due to blood shortages.

The team consist of 2 software developers (an app developer and a web developer) with experience in app development and web development. They are tasked with the development of the system apps and website. An electrical power systems engineer who with task of sizing and modeling of the backup solar power for the system. An electronics engineer, tasked with pcb development and 3D modeling of the system hardware. An embedded systems engineer, tasked with the system's hardware programming and development, and the circuit schematic design and simulation. A medical doctor, a midwife and a lab technician tasked with research and provision of data related to the administering of healthcare service and to test and validate the functionalities of the system.

One of the major aims of the system is to facilitate healthcare access by all, targeting people of the rural areas who have the most difficulties in accessing Healthcare services due to limited (or lack of) medical infrastructures in those areas, thus ensuring good health and well-being for all. Also, with the objective of boosting bank, addressing the frequent shortages of blood bank, will ensure an ever available blood supply and limit death cases due to blood shortages.

The system is a hardware based system which will involve the production and distribution of the devices and components that make up the system. This will mean setting establishing a production line and will require the recruitment of employees who will be involved with the assembly processes.

05.08 Justification

The system is a completely new system as a whole which employs technology to revolutionize the activities of the healthcare sector. Healthcare services is an all inclusive service as everyone is involved thus a large number of people who at one point need healthcare service. There have been several campaigns for blood donations but there're still challenges with getting donors but the system will minimize, if not completely eradicate this challenge. Also there're been several health campaigns and medical aids by the Government, NGOs, medical groups to rural areas and conflict/disaster affected areas and this system will contribute to making those outreach more frequent, if not permanent.

05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?

In Cameroon, our only competitor is Waspito which is a mobile application that facilitate users to get medical attention through video calls on their platform. Waspito services requires the patient to be in possession of a smartphone and must ensure a stable internet connection which is a major challenge for people of rural areas with poor internet connection and in which many cannot boast of a smartphone. Unlike them, the patient does not necessarily need a smartphone, as our system takes Doctors to the patients. Also the system provides medical record management services and provides an extra income source for the medical professionals through the issuing of patients' cards
