Lomogan Sancode is an EMR(Electronic Medical Records) system developed in 2022 by two high-school students namely :Keegan Gichovi and Braine Lomoni.It was an innovation aimed at improving the tracking possible disease outbreaks and better data analytics.

01.01 Describe your startup in more detail

Lomogan is a tech startup birthed after two friends realised their potential to solve Africa's problems through technology .Our maiden project ,San-code was a great success in helping our alma mater;Alliance High School in managing their health data at the sanatorium.Some of the improvements brought about by the software we engineered included: faster data entry and retrieval, better data visualisation through graphic models and automated report generation among others.This helped greatly in detecting health concerns within the institution based off of properly utilised data.Being a non-profit at the begining,and solely relying on savings, goodwill and our efforts, we foresaw numerous challenges that we would face in the near future.Owing to this, we endeavoured to take on new projects that would help sustain us as we work towards better market presence.Some of the projects undertaken included store-POS systems, enterprise websites , web-app portals and mobile apps.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

Under-utilization of resources is a major concern for developing nations in Africa. Inefficient data use and poor technological integration lead to less effective processes across sectors. Through various projects, we’ve seen that poor data management and traditional bookkeeping hinder industrial and social improvements. As a data science enthusiast and my partner, an excellent software developer, we’ve combined our skills to create innovative software solutions. Our systems enhance efficiency by using robust data visualization tools that provide critical insights, enabling informed decision-making and smart policy development. Initially, our focus was on health data management and education. However, over the past 18 months, we've identified a broader market gap in efficient data systems. Thus, we are expanding our expertise beyond health and education to include economic data management for businesses, aiming to drive innovation and efficiency across various sectors.

Our EMR software offers numerous benefits to our users. Firstly, it ensures accurate and time-efficient data entry and retrieval of medical records. Health workers can easily add patient data and reference previous visits, leading to better diagnosis and monitoring. Secondly, the automated reports and data visualization features allow health workers to focus on more critical health concerns rather than administrative tasks. Most importantly, our advanced analytics enable users to swiftly identify trends in cases and diseases, allowing for timely and potentially life-saving interventions. This proactive approach to healthcare management ensures that emerging patterns are detected early, facilitating prompt responses and improving overall patient outcomes. This capability was particularly inspired by the challenges institutions faced in monitoring disease outbreaks, especially during the COVID-19 era.

01.04 Please describe who exactly your startup’s product/service is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

Our software serves a range of targeted groups in various ways. For institutions using our software, administration becomes more efficient with automated reports and graphical data models that simplify tracking health concerns. For healthcare workers, it eases their workload by automating many administrative duties and helping them easily track patient data, leading to better-informed diagnoses and progress monitoring. The software also benefits the general school populace who utilize the institution's health facility. The insights drawn from the data aid in making better decisions on matters affecting their health. Health interventions by the administration, combined with better-equipped and enabled healthcare workers, work together to achieve improved health outcomes for the entire population.From a personal pain point as outlined in our documentary(on our website and youtube), less time spent at the sanatorium means more class time for the students hence a better study environment.

The owners of our startup, Lomogan, are myself and my partner, Braine Lomoni. While my corporate experience spans 2 years, I have cultivated vast leadership and interpersonal skills from a young age. My problem-solving abilities and planning expertise have been instrumental in bringing Lomogan to where it is today. My innate entrepreneurial spirit and financial acumen have driven me to discover effective ways to manage the firm, including consulting with legal practitioners and more experienced professionals. My partner, Braine, is a skilled software developer with over 5 years of programming experience. He also possesses strong management and business skills. Together, we have successfully completed projects in record time, maximizing available resources and maintaining excellent client relationships, even during challenging times. Our dedication to quality services and timely delivery has taught us valuable lessons about running a company and effectively handling emerging issues.

Having being in a same-sex school and it being the birth of our project, we haven't had much of a chance to promote gender equality as we would wish. We have however tried partnering with both Alliance Girls High School and The Kenya High School in this project and hope to see our efforts bear fruit.Similarly,we are also mentoring some of our female colleagues in campus in IT skills so that we may work with them once they have the required skillset. We are however working with a a few stake holders in promoting matters Adolescent and Young Persons Sexual and Reproductive Health where we raise awareness on issues such as Sexual and Gender Based Violence

Our startup majorly sources its labour force from the youth(mostly like-minded people from our year group).Right from the making of our documentary to all our other projects including our most recent project, (househunter.co.ke)which is also a youth founded startup, we have exlusively worked with young people in the informal sector to help them improve their skills while making an honest coin.We have worked with video animators, editors,UI/UX desigeners and other digital skills experts in our projects.

06.08 Justification for my startup

Lomogan solutions are not entirely new innovations but rather improvement son existing systems.Our approaches are different and target customer also vary from the existing solutions in the market.Our services are more specific to the clientele hence more user friendly and have better-suited features from the competition.

06.09 Competitive Analysis

Our potential competitors would be other tech start-ups.With the development of AI and the growth of the information age, making software is easier ,hence more people are able to do it.Our key selling point up to this point has been our reliability, timeliness and transparency.I believe that a good product can be made by an good engineer but what sells us is our business ethic where we deliver projects in record time(6 weeks) with all the required and up to date features and ensuring that tests have been done to prevent errors or crashing later on. We also maintain meaningful engagement with our clients all through the development process and always provide prior information if any changes arise(very rare since we do our due diligence before taking on projects).As a testament to our value, all our projects have been through referrals and repeat customers as we do our work significantly more diligently and timely than others, hence we haven't yet had the need for advertisement .

Yes, I am supporting my female colleagues at school.This is through sharing online learning material to sharpen their skills as well as helping them with project ideas. This is primarily so that once they get the required skill, we could work together ,combining efforts to come up with better solutions at our mutual benefit.
